Beautiful memorial flanked by canons. Interesting history to it. No spoilers from me. Short walk up a windy road with nice views and plenty benches if you have to stop as it's steep.

Situated in Mitchell's Hill cemetery, the Tower is quite impressive. Although closed due to health and safety I am hoping it will be opened again to the public once more. Gorgeous views looking over the Cromarty Firth and surrounding Dingwall.

The legend of Hector the Hero is amazing. Crofter’s son who joined the Gordon Highlander’s as a private and fought his way up to Major General. Was shamed into suicide by contrived allegations from jealous rivals. Had two monuments built to his memory by public subscription and a brilliant commemorative pipe tune.

A winding, narrow road takes you up to Mitchell Hill Cemetery, and this landmark lies at the heart of it.
In Winter, when the trees are bare, there's a good view of the area
