Would have been an amazing view point but the trees have grown so high now that you can't really see the view. I stood on top of the stone there and used a selfie stick 4 ft long to get the best pics I could.

There is basically no view these days. A car park 300 metres to the west would be handy!

First things first: this is THE viewing point (there are others marked on the map which do not show the famous "map of Scotland")
However, it's a bit tricky: the view cannot be seen from the flat surface by the carpark! You can see this view by CAREFULLY crossing the road and climbing the hill on the opposite side. There's a small path that takes you up.
There's also another option: walking a bit on the side of the road, for a couple of minutes (A87, towards Isle of Skye). There's a flat surface by the side of the road with no trees in front: you can't leave your car here, so leave your car in the official viewing point carpark.

This used to be a good place to stop and admire the beautiful view but unfortunately a forest of trees gas been planted and now the growing trees are obscuring the views. What a shame. You need yo look on Google Earth to see what the view used to be like.

It's worth a quick stop. There's a better view just after - but you can't stop - as you drive north away from the viewpoint, so get your camera ready and pointing out of the window as you are leaving, it's blink and you miss it.
