3 stars for the beach and the nice stroll down to the end of the boom. 1 star for the historical landmark! Not even a sign explaining what it is and what it was used for!

Been coming here since I was a child. Beach was a bit dirty and covered in sand fleas. Lovely when the tide was out a little because you could see all the broken bricks and rocks that are near the shores edge and get past them. Once the tide is in you can't see these underwater obstacles and it makes for dangerous paddling. Tide goes out a long way and it's tempting to walk all the way out but beware! The tide comes in very quickly and you can end up stuck in deep water. The nearby barracks have been redeveloped into housing and are beautiful. A lovely area to walk.

East beach at shoeburyness is the best local beach around. Watch out for the Sea Holly... But lots of space, shallow water and great views. Go every summer for proper English beach frolics and relaxing and bracing walks the rest of the year. Plenty of flotsam washed up too for beachcombing.

Trudge out in the mudflats and explore this cold war relic of concrete and steel. A folly in construction but an interesting one. Cockles, mussels and clams dot the surface of the beach as the flats extend out a mile or more at low tide. Just don't cross the barrier into the firing range or you might get a nasty shock.

Nice place too take children,on Shoebury east beach,nice big open grass area.There are a few public BBQ cooking areas.Little kiddies play area and public toilets.Worth a visit,public carpark on site,not free.

I would not think of walking along it.
You could easily get stranded on a sand bank as the tide can come in very quickly.
