King Robert The Bruce, June 24, 1314, statue created by Pilkington Jackson in 1964. This statue sits in front of Stirling Castle.

The statue of Robert the Bruce on the esplanade at Stirling Castle, Stirling, is a 1876 work sculpted by Andrew Currie and designed by illustrator George Cruikshank. As of 2020, the statue is featured on the Clydesdale Bank £20 note. The stone sculpture depicts Robert the Bruce in chain mail with his hand on the pommel of his sword. To the back side is his shield and axe. On the plinth is a shield with a lion rampant. The figure faces south, towards the location of the Battle of Bannockburn

The statue of Robert The Bruce, King Of Scotland, designed by George Cruikshank, and sculpted by Andrew Currie in 1876-77. Large stone statue on a square stone pedestal depicts the king as a tall chainmail warrior, his hand resting on the pummel of his sword. At his feet and to the rear are his shield and his axe. The figure of Bruce is facing southwards towards the battlefield of Bannockburn. The front of the pedestal is adorned with a copy of Bruce's shield, complete with Lion Rampant. The stone statue has metal elements, including the axe head, sword and parts of the shield. It sits on the Stirling Castle esplanade, close to the entrance. It is an imposing and impressive monument to the King Of Scotland, and a great part of our history.

An imposing statue of Bruce sclpted in 1876 which shows the King in armour and his hand resting on the pommel of his sword , he faces south looking towards Bannockburn and the scene of his greatest victory over the English

Who stood at Bannockburn and defeated the English army lead by King Edward II

Edward would flee at first to Stirling castle where his own men refused him entry before fleeing the area to Dunbar being chased by Sir James Douglas (the Black Douglas )

As a person who has previously lived in the area in the past, all I can say is wow what a sight, well worth a look at by a tourist.
