These are the remains of a church built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century. It was discovered in the 19th century by military engineers trying to fortify Western Heights.
This site is part of the English Heritage and is free to visit. Also, it's open non-stop.

Historically, this is amazing. It's not much more than the photos you'll see here, but it's a beautiful bit of history. No tickets needed, side of roadway.

This is without a doubt one of the marvels of England. A Knights Templar castle still remains in Dover which is amazing after over a thousand years. Sadly only the base is left but you can feel and breathe the history of the Templars. If you live locally do yourself a favour and go see this medieval monument. Don't you just love history!
