The last bit of road.. Very uneven (really 4x4 needed). The Church is locked up because of vandalism of the rear window... Don't know when it will be accessible again.. Disappointing as we visited to view the medieval wall paintings

All three routes in to this church are on private roads. Fine for walkers, no good for cars. One has a barrier which comes down and two have gates and "Private" notices. I was looking for four ancestors' graves, but the graveyard was overgrown and very wet (weather changes, but overgrown stays the same), so not very successful and spent most of the afternoon taking out burrs. Contact the church in Capel St. Mary and somebody there has the key for the church. It is a pleasant old place needing loving care.

Open daily this beautiful church is looked after by the Churches conservation trust, it certainly is "one of Suffolk's best kept secrets" as their guide booklet says. Don't let the state of the road up to it put you off it's worth the journey and any car can do it.

Hard to get to. Need 4x4 as nearly got stuck with my mondeo. There is a PRIVATE CASTLE next to it, would be nice to see it but its PRIVATE. Only able to see outside, and its no different than any other church.
