Lovely place for dog walks and bikers through the tunnels. Nice straight track. There is steep walk down from the Monsal Head car park to get to the trail however.

The tunnels are very well lit and in excellent condition lots of great views along the way.

There's a train coming!
Chug along the Monsal Trail either on foot or hire, or bring your own, bike.
Great full day out. It can get very busy.
Plenty of places to explore off the trail so, take your time and enjoy the full sensory experience.

If you like your bike rides off the busy roads then the Monsal trail is for you. A particularly good ride with it's high bridges giving great views of the countryside and long tunnels to ride through. Finishing in Bakewell means you can get a well earned cake and beer

The monsal trial is a truly unique walk, a insight into the old railway that used to serve the community. The tunnels and viaduct all add to the experience. If you stay on the trail it's a fairly easy walk with more demanding sections branching off.
