During lock down l have started walking and l discovered this viaduct on one of my recent walks. This viaduct was part of the railway line that linked Witham to Maldon. I found this structure to be interesting and l would recomend seeing it.

Part of our history and mind boggling at the same time to see a wooden bridge that had steam locomotives and diesel locomotives as well as DMU's pass over it. Well worth the walk to view it.

Sadly this historic Wooden Trestle Viaduct has gradually rotted since it's renovation by Essex County Council in the 1980's I believe.
It is a rare piece of work and should be preserved, but I wonder if anyone from the Council ever checks on it, to see what has happened to it. Some of the damage may be vandalism, but whatever, it is, will see the loss of part of history. If nothing is done to save it soon, then we have lost this rare bridge forever.

Stunning much undiscovered venue. Would highly recommend. Loads of beautiful countryside and wildlife.
