Travelling on Irish Ferries was a good experience, we took the 6:15am ferry to Calais which was more or less empty, but we expected that travelling early in the morning. The condition of the ferry was ok and not bad, although may need a refurbishment in the future. Otherwise breakfast was being served in the main restaurants and hot drinks at the drinks bar in the main lounge/seating area of the ferry.

This is a mixed review. Travelling to Dover from Calais at 4 am the ferry was disgusting. It was like being time warped to 1970. Old and dirty and stuffed in like sardines. A small bar and restaurant serving cold breakfast and warm beer. The toilet was very small and not clean and the staff were unprofessional and speaking loud in their native language. They were limited in English and no one spoke French. I did not take any photos as it was a waste of my phone charger.

The return journey is a different review totally. We arrived late and had to get the 7pm ferry. This was not a problem and they let us through without a fuss. Transported back to 2022 this ferry was amazing. A huge duty-free shop worthy of an airport with cheap prices. Loads of rooms and decks. Two huge bars with plenty of tables and TV 's. A play area for children and fruit machines for the adults. There was also a good restaurant and a place for lorry driver's to relax. Huge clean toilets and smoking areas on decks 8 and 9. The staff were professional and friendly but still lacking the French language.
It's a shame we had to experience the bad with the good. My review is based on 1 star for the first crossing and 5 stars for the return ferry.
If you are lucky and get the better ferry you will have a 5 star voyage.

I've always been on Irish ferries. There are free showers on the ferry, a duty free shop (the biggest on inishfree), usually very good food. Drivers have a 25% discount in the store. Unfortunately inishfree has very cramped showers, while inishmore and inisheer the showers are huge.

Very good, comfortable, beautiful, the staff is very polite, there is a cafe, a zone with soft chairs with a view of the water. Average price 95 euros

Wrost Experience yet. The first ferry been cancelled and 2nd ferry should depart 1600 hours but still 1800 no ship departed yet .
This is my ist and last time travel with Irish ferry. Better to go with DFDS .

The best ferry. The food is a class above DFDS. Service, attitude of the staff is always at a level. Whenever I travel to and from the island I tell my boss to get me a ticket for Irish Ferries.

I have been used few times this ferry company.

????
1- the staff are rude and can't speak English.
2- the ferry is to old
3-the duty-free shop is always expensive from outside. The staff aren't have idea what they have selling
4- always dirty

My ferry time is at 22.30 l came 22.00 before 30 minutes and passed passport control in 10 minutes. the staff on the gate (2 lady's) can't speak English and understand. Before 24 over ago l put my 9 years old son on the ticket. When l did change the system isn't ask any money but when l came on the they would extra 88€. The lady's aren't understand and argue with me about price. They are so rude. They needs personal training to gave good customer service.

Apart from a terribly slow check in on the way out (1 hour, 10 mins to drive about 200 meters), but I’m hoping that was a technical problem on the day. The rest of the experience was really good. Surprised at how clean and modern the ferry was too.
