Nice place to visit the past and experience the lost civilization. Easy family trekking to reach the watch tower and get the best view from the top. No need 4x4 to reach the location and directions are marked to reach the site. Enjoy the visit.

If you visit, you must go to the hilltop watchtower where fresh and cool air flows.

A small watch tower in between the wadi. Apparently marked in the UNESCO trial of the area. Access to the wadi is even possible with a normal car but heavy rocks. Even though there are huge farm houses nearby, the watch tower’s site gives an abandoned vibes. Im sure during winter its a nice place for a day time camp. Will revisit in December. Kalba road leading upto wadi al helo is beautiful, very much like Oman.

It’s a little archaelogical site situation. There are some explanations tablets by some of the houses so you can self-guide yourself through the ruins.

Can be accessed by regular car. No 4x4 required.

Wadi Al Helo is located 28 kilometers south-west of Kalba in Sharjah. Wadi Al Helo - meaning sweet valley in English - has ruins dating back to the Bronze Age. Walk around the ruins, one will find some window patterns and narrow stairs. We walked to the end of the road and took a left going up the ridge. There are watchtowers up there.
Wadi Al Helo is touted as the Grand Canyon of the UAE, due to its rugged natural beauty. It has been declared a protected area, due to its bountiful birds, reptiles, rodents and freshwater fish. This place is 1 hr away from Dubai and this place is more beautiful during rains and popular for full moon night view. Visitors are likely to encounter wildlife like the Arabian Oryx, the UAE’s national animal, and find camels as well as desert flowers blooming along the way.
