Firstly, we must apologise that this review comes so long after our visit to Homestead back in November!

We visited for lunch on a Saturday to celebrate our engagement in the North York Moors the day before and Cecily went way above and beyond to make sure our experience was really special, and it absolutely was!

We were seated by the windows at the back of the restaurant, overlooking relaxing views of the rolling hills and changing weather fronts of the North Yorkshire Moors. Cecily then kindly gave us a glass of bubbles each to celebrate our engagement, which was such a lovely gesture. These were followed by great local beers and alcohol free options (I would have sampled the excellent wine menu if only I hadn't been driving...). The menu is seriously exceptional, refined yet down to earth with a focus on seasonal and local produce, and every single course of the three we ordered totally exceeded our very high expectations. Finally, (as you can probably already tell by the above) the service was truly wonderful, warm and friendly, Cecily really couldn't have done more for us.

This restaurant is really, really special. It is the perfect place for a celebration but also any other excuse (especially given what good value it is for the quality of food served) to experience what that Cecily and her partner have created here, which I have no doubt will just keep getting better and better… Homestead has got to be on its way to a Michelin star!

An absolutely beautiful building in a great location, garden to the frontage was very cute and branding was fabulous. Loved the decor, crockery and presentation of the food was excellent. Portion size was perfect and food was very light, meaning you could try plenty of the courses without feeling bloated.

The taste …. Seriously phenomenal!

The depth of flavour on the duck starter was another level. Pre starter was a nice little treat and the wines were great too. All in all a fabulous evening. Thank you. We’ll definitely be back.

We come across this wonderful little restaurant whilst in the area. The food is as good as it gets and the welcome and service is excellent. We ran out of superlatives when asked about each course. As good and better than Michelin starred restaurants we have visited previously

Cozy atmosphere with friendly and attentive service and delicious locally sourced food. We had been meaning to come to this place for a little while and when we finally did it didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious and the staff made sure we were well looked after. Would definitely recommend.

Worthy of a specail visit. I've eaten in many Michelin places and it's worthy of recognition.
Both chefs are talented and passionate. As a Pescitarian they had plenty of choice.
Value for money, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
I would definitely visit again.
Parking is on roadside, but not an issue.
Menu is varied and plenty of choice.
Chef took the time to come have a chat at the end, which added to the experience.
Looking forward to visiting again.

While we wouldn’t recommend this for families with small children, if you’re looking for an exceptional treat as a couple, with stunning views, outstanding service, and an intriguing menu, The Homestead Kitchen is a great place to visit.

It’s not cheap, but then the level of work which has been driven into the produce (much is homegrown), and the work for preparation and cooking of the dishes shows why extra costs are needed.

Only open a couple of times a week, make sure you book ahead. It’s about a 16 minute walk from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Station in Goathland uphill… so you can build an appetite if you travel there from Pickering by steam train. Then it’s down hill back to the station after dinner.

To add, someone asked if it is dog friendly at the restaurant, and I have received confirmation that dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating areas which are open in the summertime. They don’t allow for dogs inside, but certainly in the outdoor areas. ????

Such a wonderful family meal at The Homestead Kitchen on Mother's Day. A lovely treat with high quality delicious food served in a superb relaxing environment ????

Delicious, locally sourced, unpretentious yet refined food executed with flawless technique.
Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere relaxed. Highly recommended.
