Quaint and Convenient - Goodge Street Underground Station

Goodge Street Underground Station, served by the Northern Line, is a smaller yet very convenient transit point in the heart of Fitzrovia. It provides straightforward access to various parts of London and boasts a location near numerous popular destinations.

Despite its smaller size, Goodge Street station is kept clean and tidy. Clear signage makes it easy to navigate your way to the platform and exit. Staff are often on hand to assist with any queries, adding to the station's friendly atmosphere.

The station's unique selling point is its proximity to several academic institutions, eateries, and shops. It is just a stone's throw away from University College London, the British Museum, and Charlotte Street, known for its selection of restaurants.

While it lacks the grandeur of larger stations, Goodge Street has a certain charm with its war-time shelter signs and above-ground building's distinctive green tiles.

It's worth noting that access to the platform is via a staircase, which can be a bit of a climb. However, there are handrails for support. If this may pose an issue, nearby stations offer lift facilities.

All in all, Goodge Street Underground Station is a reliable and convenient option for travelling around London, offering easy connections and a taste of local life.

Not an ideal train station if you are in a hurry late at night due to the lift system. Is well kept nonetheless.

One of the very few underground stations which are only operated by lifts or stairs (no escalators). 137 steps to walk up or down, so it's a good job that there is a reliable, consistent lift service in action.

Goodge Street is a busy thoroughfare in Central London. There are hundreds of shops restaurants pubs and market stalls. The facilities are good. Wide selection of food and drink outlets here.Nearest tube station is Goodge Street, Northern Line. On weekday lunchtimes, there is a popular hawkers' market at the American International Church. The pop-up stalls are busy. Be patient if you are driving or cycling along Tottenham Court Road this month. Traffic Regulations have been amended. Please be careful. Thank you

As I had to visit a clinic in the area it was a first for me to to use Goodge Street Station and considering the horrible weather all the street food sellers were doing a brisk trade. A very nice part of London. ????

The only one station that always close earlier cause of short staff !
Plus tickets costs are so high with no good service.

Decent station with frequent trains up towards Edgware or down to Kennington and Morden. Lifts and ticket machines are available but no direct step free access to the platforms as there are some steps down. Local buses stop nearby.

Facade with fading ox-blood red faience tiling, typical of early Twentieth Century stations designed by Leslie Green.
A cavernous underground bunker here served as a civilian bomb-shelter, then purposed as an American Army command and communications centre during WWII.
An anonymous station, best recalled in the 1965 proto hippy-dippy song
“Sunny Goodge Street” ...
”on the firefly platform on sunny Goodge Street
Violent hash-smoker shook a chocolate machine
Bobbed in an eating scene....” *
