By this point, I've come to the conclusion that Kasaragod-folks really know their Pallikkettu! There are numerous eateries here specializing in this fabled combo - Beef Pallikkettu / Thenga-kothu Curry + Ghee Rice / Dosa!

Amal Cafeteria is the latest diner I've been to. I've been told this place has had a major facility/feature upgrade recently. Dining space is comfortingly cramped (I like cramped, small eateries that bustle with noise) and service is quick! Diners here are mostly working folks in the area. Lone/twin-diners may be expected to share their tables with other diners. This place is packed, especially at night.

Don't forget the Watermelon Juice as the meal finisher.

Prices are VERY reasonable.

Tried their palli kettu today but not upto the mark and hype. You can easily find another famous restaurant (Ye Kubra) few steps away for comparatively better palli kettu.

visited this hotel seeing a reel ..
Below average food served.
Chkn fry was not fresh .
Only hype in social media will not recommed this.

They serve the best kasaragod food .. pathiri kett is good , so as the pathil kett .. chemmeen roast crab roast chemmeen muringa palli curry , porotta and kadala curry and porotta and meen curry for the breakfast , all mouth watering recommendation .. very pocket friendly also

I book this place thru Booking, when I checked it only had a lot of good reviews , now I understand why... I stayed 2 nights..
Great place to stay, 7 minutes walking from the train station, 5 minutes walking from 2 convenience stores that are open until 10pm/11pm, 5 minutes away from restaurants, BUT if you are a hard-core traveler then is 35 mins walking from Gatwick airport. You can ask the staff to take you to the airport (affordable extra cost).
Breakfast is not included but for 8 pounds you can get it and is very good.
I got a wonderful bedroom with 3 beds with
no outside noise whatsoever (the only noise comes from the people that have early flights ) .
Price is very good for all you get
Big restrooms with all the amenities. Without a problem I will rate it 5/5

Positive: Staff, is the best. Stayed at 7 different hotels on our vacation, easily the best. Negative: 32 minutes by train to Victoria station London but close to Gatwick Airport.... it was one or the other for us so I chose Airport but didn't expect a train strike. Of course not the hotels fault.

I stayed a Friday night before my flight from Gatwick North, only 5 minutes cab ride easy to get to. Lovely guest house, I had very nice large room on 1st floor, comfy bed, good shower, coffee/tea in room. Felt very safe as women travelling on own.
Nicely decorated breakfast room, I was down early and owner; Quasim greeted me and delivered fresh hot scrambled eggs and toast to me within minutes. Organized transport for me to Gatwick, which was on time.
Great place to stay only short walk to restaurants and shops in Horley town.

Very nice and clean rooms, good parking space, restaurants in about 200 meters. I would have given more stars if the owner did not choose efficiency over hospitality.
Having to ask for towels and toiletpaper is not what you want. And cleaning up the breakfast table, putting things in the fridge and turning off the radio in the breakfastroom makes you feel unwelcome. Work on that and people will come back.

Babies are not allowed to sleep in the parents bed without extra charge. For them an extra bed in a multi-bed room must be booked. Moreover, breakfast is charged at full price even for one-year-olds. No check-in between 14-15 because his children are taken to school. In the morning breakfast only between 7:30 - 8:55. Everything is only communicated with the booking confirmation - oh dear.

Very close to downtown and Gatwick airport. Very clean. The breakfast is made by the owner for that personal touch. Very kind person.

We had a good stay here for two nights as we flew into Gatwick and then were heading to Belgium two days later. Keeping in mind London is just so crazy expensive this was a fair price for what it was or even a very good value. Place is a bit worn but clean and it has a bit of character which is nice. It’s within walking distance from the train station which is what was important to us. We had a eurail pass and wanted to travel into London on our one full day. Because of the queens death we ended up doing a day trip to Brighton instead which was only about a half hour on the train and was enjoyable. We would stay here again. Our only negative was the room above us you could hear them walking around and it was very loud. We were tired from a red eye flight though and it did not affect us to much
