Recommended and a must to visit place if you go to York. Stunning view up there.

Beautiful views of the York Minster cathedral are available at this Northern part of the wall. A really nice walk and not too far between break points in the wall where you can come down and explore the immediate area before carrying on.

The northern part of the medieval walls (around the Minster Court) has the best views in my opinion. It's a lovely experience walking along the walls with some very picturesque sites.

The wall can be accessed of multiple points, it encapsulates old york City, and takes about 2 hours of walking. There are few high points. It looks a narrow path, and when two people of opposite directions walk through it, it might be a bit dangerous. All in all the experience is nice.

The non-continuous wall makes a really nice place to stroll. There are historical markers that are worth reading (including information on the once significant Jewish population and the horrible history about them, including a medieval cemetery that is now a parking lot!). Some Roman ruins have been excavated on the North side, but are inaccessible.

Most of wall has no guard rail and a steep drop-off on the inner side. Entries are somewhat steep with tea rooms at some where soldiers were posted.

No room for strollers, but, for some reason, people bring them up there, making it dangerous to walk with no guardrail. Should be policed for just that reason.

Chester's wall is much nicer, but this is York.

Walking the medieval walls is a great way to spend an evening in York. It's free and good exercise. We start the walk from the Goodramgate tower and finish at Bootham Bar gate where you can reenter the city towards the minster. Plenty of bars and eateries at this point.
