Cold '70s-style old tin-pan toilets with no toilet seats. As of April 2023, it's 40p to enter these old-fashioned toilets. English Heritage could take over the maintenance of these toilets, (and that's not sarcasm), as they're right by the entrance to Whitby Abbey.

Entirely unchanged from the time they were free but now 40p per user via a gated entry system that accepts coins and card payments.

Relatively clean in the morning but presumably not attended for cleaning often during the day as they can be quite disgusting.

Hand washing is via odd holes in the wall that do water, soap and drying in one unit. However the buttons are hidden under a lip so if you're adult sized they are easy to miss. The dryer also has less output than the cold wind blowing into the facilities.

Unfortunately they have a pretty captive audience due to the remote location of the car park so presumably make a reasonable profit for the council on top of the already quite high parking charges.

West Cliff toilets were disgusting! They were filthy and smelly whilst a female attendant was sitting on the floor inside the barrier on her mobile phone! We couldn't believe we were being charged 40p to use them!

How they can charge 40p for these minging loos beggars belief. Where is the money going ? Not into keeping them clean that's for sure . There is a pandemic going on all around us yet zero effort is going into cleanIng public toilets it's just a rip off money grabbing scam

They were free and are now 40p which I would have thought could have been covered by the high car parking charges. Didn't go in, but expect they would by spotless as the numbers of people using them would have gone down. It encouraged us to visit a cafe on the way up to the steps, have afternoon tea and use their facilities. Useful for emergencies though noting the remote location of the car park.

I came here on sunday 12th july really really disgusting loo roll every where pee on seats water leaking from the loos they were filthy the smell was appalling I couldnt wait to get out there. To charge 40p too was dreadful. Terrible

40p charge which seems to be going rate for loo visits these days.
Clean and tidy but the sink machine is a little low

Absolutely disgusting! Dirty, no soap and you have to pay £0.40 to enter....not happy!
