We treked there at 8:30pm at night, it was really dark but nothing some flashlights from our phones couldn't handle!

The staff were extremely kind and helpful. They showed us around, informed us about the events and interesting things they had in the Observatory, including an asteroid piece that landed near Dundee!

The Observatory wasn't open for sky viewing that night but the balcony was open and the staff lended us some binoculars to view the sky. Very kind and friendly service! Would definitely go back again!

Wow, what a great place. Can really only be visited at night time when it’s dark and if there are clear skies. Keep in mind that it’s not open all year round, and it’s run by volunteers and funded by donations. The drive up to the observatory is tricky, it’s on narrow paths, dimly lit and tight if trying to pass other vehicles, but there is parking for around 10 cars. You'll probably spend around 30 minutes to an hour here. The staff are always willing to talk about the exhibts and answer questions.

It was nice to get a feel for how astronomy used to be conducted - in the cold and looking through a real telescope.
Unfortunately, though the new telescope has pretty good optics, because it doesn't have an equatorial mount, the volunteer had to spend most of the evening realigning the instrument and that meant that even with only a few visitors the pace was very slow and we didn't get much viewing time.

Lovely staff very informative and attentive. We got to see the moon, 7sisters and orion constellations through the telescops soo incredible and pretty. Its free to visit and you can go upstairs and get the best bits.

Opened in 1935. The Mills is a purpose built public Observatory. It was founded by legacy from John Mills, a 19th century line and rope manufacturer and keen amuture astronomer.Built of sandstones, the observatory has a dome of a piper-machine.

Currently maintained three telescopes in operation including the initial telescope as well. Four staf members working in here anf two two of them are at the premises in each time. Mr Auther Clark one of the staff member who helped me to get more details about astronomy and the observatory. Really appriciate it

Although the building is small it was warm downstairs the staff where amazingly pleasant patient and knowledgeable, we visited during the day after its reopening due to covid and enjoyed the talks. Will definately go back at night for a look, beware the road up to it is quite narrow with a lot of dog walkers on it.

Took the kids up, the staff member at the telescope was very rude and condersending, he shouted and was physically shaking with anger because we asked if the kids could just look through a small telescope as it was cloudy just so it wasn't a wasted journey for them, disgusting behaviour in front of children, the manager was helpfull and fully listened to our complaint.
