I've visited a few circles around the UK and this one was very atmospheric. Google maps is not a good source for accessing the site as it is up a steep climb from the road, which Google claims is an 8 minute walk. Takes about 20-30 minutes to walk from free car park but the pathway is unclear. Majestic spot though. Don't take your dogs though as there are sheep grazing and a high stile to climb. Beautiful views and you can definitely understand why it was revered in days gone by. Worth the climb!

Cant believe we haven't found this before! An easy walk from Cutthroat Bridge. Big skies and expansive views.

Hordron Edge Stone Circle, Moscar Moor

Seven Stones of Hordron' is the name that it goes by also. However there are actually 11 plus another three found during peat investigations in the early. 1990s.
Constructed in the Bronze Age, the circle commands beautiful views over the landscape of Win Hill and nearby Ladybower (although the reservoir was constructed between 1935 and 1943 and would not have formed part of the panorama views in the Bronze Age.
Their number includes a stone. Known as the Fairy Stone. The sun is said to roll down the outskirts of the Fairy Stone at Samhaim. There have been reported sightings of strange lights dancing around the circle for years.

A beautiful place! Seemingly bleak as its on moorland but being there you feel the energy.
It's kind of warming (although the wind is cold even on a warm day).
It can be quite a trek from the lay-by/carpark, but if you go through the woods and round the peak, it's stunning.

Stumbled across this little stone circle, some fantastic views over all the Peak District including a sneak peak of the famous lady bower.

Small stone circle. Defiantly not Stonehenge. Easy enough to find from the oddly named Cut throat car park on the A57. (it's a lay by) Easy to get to if your reasonably fit. Some great views and that's it really.

Small stone circle near Ladybower reservoir. No disabled access. 20 minute walk from car park on Glossop Rd. Path quite steep in parts. Lovely views
