Welcome was warm and receptionist / concierge was super helpful. Room was well kitted out. Really characterful building. Park opposite was amazing with a 3 year old and not to be missed in summer

This was our 2nd stay at this lovely hotel. It is the Old Police Station and is full of character but modern too. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. So, a great 2nd stay, and we are booked in for another visit later on in the year.

Worst hotel I've stayed in in a while. Smell in room, dirty carpets, walls paper thin. Free breakfast till 9 only, they serve exact same breakfast at after 9 but you have to pay, why? Wasnt told on check-in, resaurant wasnt busy, reception response was "no one has ever missed breakfast". Refused to help at all, had one line of "thats the rules", and when I said that was morally wrong as wasn't told and is there anything you can do to help, I was told they dont have to speak to me as they claimed I raised my voice (I didn't) and hung up. They cancelled breakfast one day as wanted to shut restaurant but agreed to replace with hamper, hamper was a packet of custard creams, and old long life croissant and litre of concentrate from ASDA. No one was in the hotel at all for 90% of stay. One towel provided for two, fridge loud, handles and doors broken and arrogance of the highest level, the park bench outside is probably better value for money. Will never return, stay away.

Booked because it's close to the Majestic theatre and town centre.
Quiet, secure and great breakfast.
Only downside was looking on internet saw they served dinner upto 6PM Sunday, went down 5PM and informed they had already stopped serving. So trip round the corner for a pizza before theatre.

Actually went to the Old Police Station for dinner. The food was great, the wine very reasonably priced - £5 for a small glass. The staff very attentive but learning I felt, not a problem to us, very kind and polite. They gave us a tour which was lovely. Definitely going back.

Although we booked last minute our room was OK but the carpet was quite dirty. There was not really a lot of wardrobe space .no full length wardrobe and in the same space as the wardrobe was a small fridge and on top of that was a tray with cups glasses and kettle I had to.move the tray and out it on the table in the small room .which gave us a little more space for clothes :but when I went to get a some clothes on the morning the bottom.of the clothes were warm. Fire risk ????. I also was disappointed in the evening as the bar closes at anytime if not busy so if you get back fro.a day out some nights the bar is closed which is very frustrating at times . I did report all these thing to the front desk. Our stay was very relaxing and the staff were amazing especially the young man who was very smartly dressed in the mornings at breakfast and still there at night very polite and helpful. As all staff were.

Lovely hotel. Rooms are well maintained and clean, beds comfy and shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were kind and helpful. I'm almost reluctant to leave a good review in case it's full next time we're in Retford! Thank you to all the staff.

Toilet flusher was broken. The shower flooded
The room was very small. The fridge didn't work and the furniture doors didn't shut. On the plus side it had a good sized TV and the bed was comfortable.
