Opened by Diana The Princess of Wales in September 1992.
She was very friendly and down to earth to the people of Stockton when she opened this bridge.
The workers from the Cooperative Creamery Dairies Church Road Stockton were outside amongst the others to see Princess Diana. She also shook hands with them.

In the world of bridges, this one isn't the most glamorous or famous, but it does it's job very well indeed.
Although it's 27 years old now, it's performed it's job continuously, 24x7, without issue or complaint.
It's proving to be popular for those with suicidal thoughts, with notices for the Samaritans helpline at with end ignored by the last few jumpers. The bridge doesn't condone this behaviour.
If you need to get from one side of the Tees to the other, with or without a vehicle, and stay dry - this is the bridge for you.

It's a bridge it gets me from one side of the river to the other without me getting wet and it is very good at it.
