We went on an early Sunday evening, so we were expecting it to be busy, which was no surprise when we got there. We waited behind another couple to check in for our table but had no one look at us for 5 minutes to acknowledge we were there, due to it being so busy with lots of empty plates and glasses to be cleared off tables.
We checked in and was asked if we could get a drink at the bar as our table was being prepared for us, so that was fine. There was a big queue but it was clearing quite quickly, which was good. We had a young lad serve us at the bar, and I think he was fairly new as he looked like a deer caught in the headlights, but he remained calm and took his time to make sure our order was correct.
During this time we noticed people arriving and getting seated while we've been waiting to be seated as well so my partner asked the manager if the table was ready for us and he managed to find a table quickly.
The food was brilliant, I have to say everything tasted fresh and really tasty and there was plenty there for everyone. It was a shame I couldn't finish it all, but I think I overindulged. I was looking forward to trying a slice of one of the cakes, but I wouldn't be able to have fitted it in. I will be on our next visit, though.
It was nice for the manager to say goodbye and ask how everything was when we were leaving, which added a nice touch.

the service was a bit poor and slow, they were not particularly busy. painful would be the word. we also couldn’t set up a tab which is very frustrating as we had a discount and we’re a mixed group with elderly family, we would happily have swiped or left a card to make it easier. we have definitely had a tab here before working in hospitality myself it’s really not that hard to manage. there were also items missing off the menu - fair enough stuff runs out but telling people before they spend ages choosing a meal/dessert would be better.

Well what can I say service with a smile from Victoria and the best carvery by far served by mo my partner is vegan and the menu made her enjoy food and feel included .we also had dessert and the selection is second to none beautiful place lovely staff and wonderful food we will see you soon many thanks

Staff were great and really looked after us. Louis served us and was super friendly and helpful!
Cake was incredible as always- would always recommend the carrot cake (it is enormous!!).
Really love going here for a chilled afternoon/evening.

We had a lovely lunch today of Korean burger and a cheese and chutney bap. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection and to top it off the staff were all welcoming and friendly. Both members of staff who we saw (Georgia and Rose) were very cheerful and couldn’t do enough to help us (we asked for extra coleslaw on one plate and onion rings instead of chips on another in some establishments, this is treated like it’s a bit of a chore!). The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm despite the busy lunchtime and when staff are happy in their workplace, it is very obvious to customers; it was very evident today that the girls were experienced and happy and wanted us to be too! Well done Hillfield Farm!

Absolutely beautiful! I am a vegan, and it was an absolute delight to see vegan options in the desert menu! The carvery was the BEST I have ever had! Move over Toby carvery. They had all the veg you want, sprouts, cabbage, swede and carrot mash, huge carrots, and more. It was so good, I couldn't eat all mine so I'm taking it home for later. We will be sharing the love for this place for sure, and we will defo be back.
Staff was delightful too, really polite, and smiley, which, for me, is so important.
Victoria, mo, and the young lad waiting today was all delightful. See you again soon!

Food has definitely gon down hill since we last visited. There was some confusion over orders.we ordered a kid's menu of carrot sticks and cucumber sticks. With tomato sauce. And ended up with a plate of carrot sticks and mayonnaise. Presentation of food was not the best .my burger was laying it on it's side in the middle of the plate on top of chip's. Even though it is a cheaper family pub to eat at .you still expect a decent level of quality and service. The staff were friendly and polite. But very young perhaps it works out cheaper for the pub to hire younger staff. Unfortunately we will not be returning in the foreseeable future.

Visited on Tuesday the carvery looked lovely we had an all day breakfast absolutely fabulous ,staff were very friendly and we had excellent service come 12 lot's of people arrived for the carvery, worth a visit .
