We had a lovely welcome at The Pilot Inn. We were given Room 3 which had a freestanding copper bath in the corner of the room. There were windows on two aspects, fabulous bed, wet room, coffee pod machine, biscuits, kettle and further coffee & tea making facilities, a fan, a heater, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fridge and loads of towels and bathroom smellies. The pub is close to the seafront and situated in the nicer part of town. Dinner and breakfast were delicious! We shall try and come back later in the year for a nothing treat.

Appalled by customer service. We were looking for a place for a bite to eat, and having been here a few times, i popped in and a friendly chap confirmed they were serving food. We all went into the pub, and were met by another staff member who seemed (or thought she was) in charge. She told us there was no space inside - no problem - so we went outside and found a table. A while later the same woman informed us that as it had started to drizzle slightly, the staff would not take orders outside ???? In addition, she told us that if the 'rain' didn't stop they would not be able to bring the food too us because it was 'too slippery' for the staff ??
Not a problem - we were more than capable of walking too and from the bar, so after a few minutes deciding on food and drinks, I went to the bar to order. Another member of staff took our order, but was interrupted by the self important woman to be told that she had decided that the kitchen was closed.
Obviously we walked out.
Where do you find staff that have so little idea of customer service ?

I visited this pub with my wife, 2 kids (one a small baby), a friend and their dog.

The service was to an exceptional standard. We were greeted at the door and despite being extremely busy, they found us a table and brought over a high chair.

Drinks orders were taken really quickly and delivered to the table. Service we quick and we were checked on a couple of times, in a really polite and happy manner to see if we needed anything else. This despite how busy the place was, shows how well run the pub is.

We didn't have time to eat but we will next time as all the food going out looked tasty and I didn't see plate go back with any food left on it!

When it was time to leave we were given our bill and payment was taken quickly. No service charge added, which is rare these days.

Excellent. I had swordfish as my main and lemon meringue for desert. The staff were lovely and the service was on point. Highly recommended.

It’s a very nice pub, well located, cozy and great staff. However, the waiting time for food is ridiculous. We waited over 1h and 20 minutes for our mains dishes. With no care from the waiter who’s said “ well, there are more other before yours. “

Excellent location for Beach Head marathon. Close to Meads Village and gardens overlooking the sea. Lovely part of Eastbourne. Stayed 2 nights. Busy pub/restaurant with very comfortable and quiet rooms. Staff friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Food generous.

I can highly recommend the pilot inn, each time my grandad comes over from the Isle of Wight I also bring him here as he loves their fresh fish and he is very particular about his food! I'm a vegetarian and find the options are lovely also, the staff are always pleasant, there is a small car park and it's within walking distance to Eastbourne's lovely beach front afterwards! The meal portions are very good and in general I think the food menu is great!

Lovely pub for a drink with loads of seating, as well as a garden. Unfortunately I found the food to be pretty poor and overpriced. If based on food alone I'd give it a 2 star but for a drink it's a 4 star, hence the overall 3 star rating. Also worth mentioning that staff are always friendly and helpful!
