Fantastic Show big crowds.
Very well organized.
Only improvement would be better bathroom facilities for so many people.
Especially in campsite.

My first time at the fair. Went with my partner, glad we left the children behind as I honestly don't think they'd have the legs for it. We covered just shy of 6 miles, and although we were desperate to see it all lit up at night we left just before 6pm as neither of us could stand anymore and seating was incredibly limited, especially in the top fields away from the food vendors. I would recommend bringing your own folding chair, I wish I'd known that in advance. Still, huge amount to see, well worth the ticket price. Food amd drinks can be pricey, but all adds to the fun of the fair.

I always love to go to the Great Dorset Steam Fair, due to its sheer size, and the diversity of the exhibits. Unfortunately, it suffers the same complaint of any of these big festivals, with food, drink and most goods being massively overpriced due to the huge overhead cost imposed on the vendors! £10:00 for a cheeseburger is just ridiculous, but a captive audience will always ensure these prices are paid no matter how much they have to charge. No mobile data coverage, and sketchy phone reception throughout means that many of the food stalls were insisting upon cash transactions, as the card machines took forever to process payments!!
My biggest bug for the whole visit was the complete lack of fresh drinking water, which given the recent temperatures, would’ve been a necessity rather than a luxury??
These annoyances aside, it’s still the biggest and best steam fair in the uk, with exhibitors traveling from all corners of the UK (and Europe) The warm dry weather this year resulted in everything being covered in thick dust, but could just as easily been wading through knee deep mud, so it’s just something you allow for!
If you have the ability to stop over, I would recommend you do so, as the site is so vast, it’s impossible to see everything on show in a single day (unless you’re a single marathon runner with no baggage?)
I wouldn’t hesitate in going back next year, but take all of the above int consideration!!
The heavy haulers demonstration was simply amazing, with multiple engines towing / pushing huge loads up the steep hill to the rear right corner of the site, making quite a spectacular site, seeing the sheer power of these machines at work (pretty sure this is the only show in the uk where this is done??)
I’m not quite sure where minter trucks fit into this picture, but they seemed popular, and added to the dust problem ;)
Heavy horses, craft tents, stationary engines and tractors (enough to please any enthusiast) are all on show, with local specialist trades showing off their skills too.
I did feel that the Auto Jumble was very disappointing this year, with many of the vendors selling junk. I’ve been previous years when it was a treasure trove for finding that missing part to complete a build , or picking up a winter project for a fair price, but everything on sale (with very little exceptions) was overpriced rubbish that looked like it had been rescued from a local scrap yard (maybe just me, as I wanted parts for stationary engines and tractors??)
Still a most enjoyable day, involving lots of walking, and plenty of really interesting exhibits to see!!

First time visiting. Seems to be getting quite commercial but that may be due to the COVID break and wanting to fill spaces. Unless you want to spend hours watching exhibits, you can probably do it in a day, but a weekend is a good way to soak up the beer tents. Overall great experience.

What a greatday out. So much to see it wouldn't be possible to see it all in a day! Magnificent collection if traction engines and other steam powered vehicles, with many scheduled events throughout the day, right up to midnight. We watched the one of the live music stages t nearly 11pm and the place was still thronging.

This great event is badly let down by DISGUSTING toilets throughout the weekend. Nowhere near enough of them on the campsite, and left uncleaned until they're overflowing!!
The show is not cheap. Beer a minimum £5/pint. Ice creams £4 upwards. Fish & chips £10 plus.

Wonderful to have the Steam Fair back after missing the last 2 years due to Covid. Back and bigger and better than ever.
All the usual attractions with the showmans' engines and their associated rides, the road and agricultural engines but far more of them than ever before. Also demonstrations of engines working at threshing, baling, ploughing and sawing along with other country crafts eg blacksmithing, thatching, hedging, cob-wall building etc.
The fun fair was bigger than ever too with brilliant rides and looked wonderful at night. Go, if you have the chance. We can't wait for next year.

What a fantastic week we had I have been to some steam fairs but this was on a other level so much to see and do I'm glad we spend the time on the site and I have made some of the best memories with my family. We will be back next year and hope to keep going for many years to come. thank you to all who make this event happen each year
