Have been twice now and neither times I have found the doctors to be helpful at all. The receptionists are a lot more sympathetic. The doctors here don't seem bothered at all and aren't interested in giving treatment. Sick of not being able to see doctors and when I can on the very rare occasion, I receive no help.

Spending four nights in ward 4 of UHND having a routine health issue resolved certainly opened my eyes to the care, compassion, professionalism and dedication of all the staff. I witnessed the kindness, the care and compassion displayed towards terribly needy patients who would arrive at all times of the day and night.
They do things I couldn’t do, indeed things that very few of us would have the stomach or the patience to do.
I think a lot of people take the NHS and its staff for granted. I myself am probably guilty of that. However it’s not until you’re actually in the middle of their world you realise what a marvellous pedigree of people they are.

My dad was admitted tonight with a suspected stroke & I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for the compassion & friendliness of Andrea ( Sister on duty ) She was so helpful & lovely & showed such compassion to myself & my dad. Just what a nurse should be like.

I had to visit the pau for reduced movement. The midwife got me in straight away and she was so kind and friendly during my time in the hospital. She made me feel calm and reassured leaving and told me if I had any concerns they are always happy to help not matter how frequent they would rather double check. I didn’t catch her name but she has red hair she’s absolutely fantastic.

I had to attend A&E and yes there is a wait but that's what is expected, however its Accident & Emergencies so stop moaning and twisting these Dr's & nurses train really hard to provide a service that is free. It's the government you need to lobby not the department. Hospitals have life threatening Emergencies to see to so hence the wait they come first. Not you!!!!

If possible use the park and ride service which is currently £2 all day per adult. The hospital carpark is overpriced and too small. One person who was at the hospital by invitation to speak to the Chief Executive about poor patient care was expected to pay for parking whilst his MP appeared to have been invited to park free of charge. Some people have had very bad experiences here. Both patients and relatives. A patient`s hearing aid was lost at this hospital which is a serious matter. Patients need to be able to communicate with staff.

I was on Day Surgery ward yesterday from entering those doors if never felt so cared for in all my life .
The staff were second to none couldn't praise them enough you all do an amazing job.
And the cups of tea were amazing after not having one for 12+ hours . Thanks again for yesterday xxx

Probably the best hospital in the world. While my boys were sent home regardless of which hospital I went with them or how many times I went with them to the family doctor, everywhere I was told they only have a cold and that they will recover home, different hospitals, different doctors they all said the same and sent us home. My boys were getting worse and worse until I came with them to University Hospital in Durham. As soon as they saw one of my boys they also hospitalized him. Kawasaki disease.. yep..not just a common cold but a condition that untreated it can be fatal. My other boy was also hospitalized
and treated with injectable antibiotic having a strong virus in his body. NOT JUST A COMMON COLD!! In conclusion, doctors from University Hospital in Durham care about others and they know what they are doing. Respect! Both to them and to the nurses, and to those who analyzed the blood and all the liquids, and all those involved in treating my boys. THANK YOU! Treetops Unit...You Rock!
