Was thinking of staying a few nights, cycling holiday with my wife, arrived and sat and looked at the view, to be confronted by the rudest woman I’ve met for some time, basically told to Leave the premises and that the area was private, not a single sign saying so to be seen, we left. Reading the other reviews a lucky escape.

Stayed here with a couple of friends on a fishing break. The hostel was a lot better than expected the beds where very comfortable and clean The kitchen was very well equipped micro. Toasters . Etc . The lady who was on reception who i believe is the owner was very friendly and also gave us tips on where to fish . We are definitely going back *****

The owner is a disgrace. Her 2 dogs had to be put to sleep after she failed to seek any kind of veterinary treatment for them. Banned for 3 years from owning animals. Not long enough!! Shameful animal abuser. The SSPCA said that it looked like the dogs, aged 8 and 9, had likely never seen a vet in their lives.

The worst! We are cycling across Scotland. We planned to stay 1 night for camping. We arrived on site, seemed not verry well maintained, but didn’t really mind as we wanted to just pitch our tent. Door for the bulding was open… no one inside no one around…seeing how everything was open we figured someone would eventually show up. We look around for the tent sites, we find a grassy unmaintained spot with what seems to be old picknik tables. We decide to pitch our tent and have a bit to eat. We had been on site for around one hour and a half when a women showed up. Instead of welcoming us and greating us, she ordered us to take our tent down and leave saying that we should of waited for her before setting up!?!?!? I told her that we had cycled 60km where tired, it was now 6 O’clock and that we would obviously pay! She wanted no thing to do with it and ordered us out !!!! We had to pack our stuff get on our bikes and hope to find a spot to set up our tent as there was no campsites for miles !!!

As we left, we talk to folks in town about what had happened and they mentionned that the owners where not nice people!! No kidding!!

This establishment is a disgrace to Scottish hospitality and it’s a shame it the only one on the loch…

I would avoid this place and never recommand it!!!

DO NOT visit this place, the women owner, I think it was a women was the most unhelpful, rude arrogant thing I've ever met. We are a fund raising group for many great causes and she did not care one little bit. Be warned people! Not even good looking spot in Scotland, plenty of better places.

We loved the location. There was no power when we got there but Sheila was outstanding and let us stay for free. Also used her own power from house to provide hot water and heat up food.

Service was welcoming despite our late arrival. The room was clean and comfortable. Shower was hot and the linen fresh. Tea and coffee making was nice. Beds were comfortable v

Slightly disappointed that the kitchen was closed due to Covid. Fortunately we had already eaten this would have been an issue after a 9 hour drive if we had kept to our original plan of cooking on arrival. No mention of the closure on the website.

Unsure of any reduction of risk, in serving breakfast in the tiny room at the end of the corridor rather than the kitchen. A minor gripe but it should have been made clear on their website. £69 for 4 adults with a breakfast was good value. I’ll be back
