Al Maqta Fort

A historical site in Abu Dhabi dating back two hundred years.

Drive towards the bridge to Maqta, just before the bridge take a right. Follow the road. Bumpy road ahead. Currently have construction work in the area.

You can get a closer look from the outside. Not open to the public.

Will be turned into a Police Museum.

It’s a nice place away for the city and tall buildings. Beautiful sunset in the evening between the Maqta Bridge and Sheikh Zayed Bridge.

A great place for tourists to see the old and the new Abu Dhabi.

One of my most favorite spots in Abu Dhabi. In different times a day this tower looks charming in different sun angles and in different seasons. To know more about this tower kindly visit Al Maqta'a Fort located on land besides the tower.

An old monument near the gateway of Maqta’a bridge towards Abu Dhabi island. Maqta’a bridge was the first bridge to the Abu Dhabi Island. Now it has another typical bridge towards the city next to the old bridge. Now there are another 4 more bridges are constructed for connecting island with the mainland. They are Mussafah Bridge, Sheikh Zayed bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge and Hodariyat Bridge.

The Fort reflects a lot of tradition of Abu Dhabi and it is nice place to visit however there is not much to see. You can barely spend more than 20 min here. Worth stopping but do not plan long time there. Al Maqta Fort is one of the first trading places in history of Abu Dhabi. Al Maqta Fort location was very important in earlier years in UAE because it was bridge of trading and place where they can cross the 2 islands. It is really quite place to have rest and to see sunset.

This fort is Quite decent. As a heritage site, you should visit.
