When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staff who explained the entire concept of the Pitch Dark Dining.
During the briefing by Joel, we were served canapés with burnt rosemary at the bottom of the plate so as it invoke our body’s sensory receptors. Mr.Joel, who wore infrared night vision goggles and also our host for the night, patiently described every aspect of what we would be experiencing once we enter the pitch dark room and having a 3 course dinner meal.
He then led us to our table in the pitch dark room personally with our hands on his shoulders. Once we were seated he brought us our starters followed by the main course and then last but not the least, dessert.
Once we were done with our 3 course, Mr.Joel again escorted us out of the dark room, first into a room with very little light so our eyes can get adjusted before going into the light. Once we were outside in the briefing area of the restaurant, it was time for the big reveal by the chef of what we were served.
The experience of not being able to see the food that is served before you and just using your olfactory senses and gustatory senses to guess the taste, texture, ingredients and if possible the dish itself, is one of its kind.
I highly recommend this entire experience to all of you.
Indeed it’s a MUST-TRY.

Chef Nuwan certainly knows how to make delicious dishes and excite your taste buds while also challenging them!
You definitely notice the enhancement of the senses, but also maybe how little you think about the actual taste of foods when you eat as identifying ingredients correctly after was much harder than realized!
Without doubt a recommended dinner date experience to try while in Abu Dhabi
