Derby Road has been my GP practice for over 25 years and it has been excellent, but being aware of a lot of adverse comments in the media about GP practices in general I was a little concerned when I rang to make an appointment with the physiotherapist.
There were 11 people in the queue before me but they seemed to be being dealt with at about 1 a minute, which I find very impressive given that some of the calls must be fairly complex.
My appointment is in 3 working days, which is excellent - far better than I thought it would be and I doubt I could have seen a private physio any quicker.
I’m very impressed and cannot fault the service I received.

This practice is awful and I'm not exaggerating. No matter what time of the day you call, there always is a huge waiting time for an answer and you're usually in a very long queue.

The receptionist whoever answers the phone seems like they're guessing when you ask questions.

I recently asked them if they had received a form, which the GP needs to complete, which was sent to them 4 weeks ago, they said they only received it on the 17th of April and will get processed shortly. I have received the form & it was filled out by the GP (signed and dated) on 6th of April!! - and the form has been completed incorrectly by the GP! - absolutely ridiculous. If the GP is that careless (GP Amanda Lewis) then there's not much hope for anyone

Best advice is join another practice

Unbelievable treatment and after they promised 'we are a good doctors surgery' after my last one got shut down for neglect.

I've received gaslighting from the chief doctor who refused a proof of claim to keep her point.
Another completely refused to treat me because I wouldn't wear a mask, she only had to write a referral.
And another showed himself to be utterly uncaring and didn't flitch at all when I told him NHS neglect and years of domestic abuse is the reason my condition is so bad. Refused to help me or advise me about anything and would only make a skin prescription.

Told me I have to make separate appointment for ever point I want to raise!

And to top off the insult their audio recording waiting music is literally harmful and anxiety inducing.
I almost had to hand up after 20 minutes it was making me ill, I documented my deterioration while listening.
There is such a thing as Musically Induced Harm MIH and drhc use the most unrelaxing style of music classical music and 6 reminders a minute of you waiting position to make it feel much longer.
It is so obviously not healthy it almost seems intentional.

Civil suit coming your way go with the one in progress hopefully. Wish me luck folks I am holding these harmful people to account.

Last time, when I ordered my repeat prescription online the GP did not approve it and send me a message asking me to see a GP. I stayed for 3 weeks without medication till I got an appointment with the GP.

Now I was supposed to have a blood test on 28/02/2023, to be started on a new medication. On 27/02/2023 I was contacted to be told my appointment has been cancelled. I was able to make another one in two weeks time which is today, 15/03/2023, to my surprise wgen I woke up I found an sms, sent at 8:45, saying it is cancelled.

Now I am calking the reception. It's been 34 mins and I am in queue position 5.

This is the new system they introduced to pass their problems to the patient. It is frustrating..

Make an appointment and plan into your own schedule is impossible. Make an appointment is like lottery, you have to try 10+ time at 8:00 morning to get in the que of 20+. It takes 20 minutes on average to get to receptionists who probably can't empathise based on reason for your call. Once you get thru it, you have got something like an assessment appointment on the phone with GP. That is the case when everything went as I described. If you call later 8:05, there will be no appointments.
I would give 5 stars to most of GP visited in the past. It is the booking system and their own rules which kill the reputation of this health centre.
In the past, GP could give you follow-up appointments so you don't have to go thru all your issues all over again, which can be very uncomfortable. It was also possible to plan and keep updated your employer about your upcoming appointment
But GP were told they can't do that anymore. Instead, I have been told to try to ask when booking, to have an appointment with the GP, which is impossible. Also they informed me on Monday the GP is in Thursday, but on the day they told you, firstly, the GP is fully booked and few seconds later they change it saying the GP is not fully booked but they on different duty (visiting patients etc.) In a case where you need a GP, which you find comfortable to speak and same time they are able to explain what is going on and what will be next step in treatment this is extremely frustrating! As you don't know when they are going to call, you just need to carry on with your day. So you get the call when it is inappropriate and uncomfortable to talk about it due to the environment. The GP understood this and would recommend follow up face to face appointment, but they can't do anything about it.

I've been with them for many, many years and recently found that receptionists mislead me regarding a doctor callback for 3 days, telling me to call back at 9am when in fact they open at 8, then telling me im booked in for a call back which failed and they states nothing is booked. After an apology from the management team im now being told my phone consuis on Saturday.
Really disappointing to be told this after 80 mins of waiting over 4 phone calls.

I called in yesterday for shoulder pain and managed to book in an appointment with the physio first thing this morning. Jamie was professional and listened to my problem and gave me some really good advice regarding the causation of my issue and what to do next. Very impressed with the quick treatment.

After calling and waiting 30mins today to get through they put the phone down before I could even speak to them, as I reach the person next in line. Then I call again 5minutes ago, took me 20minutes to get through and they won't book me an emergency appointment even though I'm on my last few antibiotics and in immense pain. They were great last time I called was a younger woman who helped me earlier this week. This time it was disgruntled man on the phone who sounded younger and not wanting to exist at all. Post an ad on Indeed for new receptionists and sack the ones who aren't willing to help potential dying people.
