Great little distillery on the Highlands/Lowlands border just 12 mikes north of Glasgow, Scotland.

Visited for the second time for a genuine whisky tour. This time we participated in the “Rare Whisky “ experience and tasted three whiskies. 1. 25 Year Whisky, 2. 30 Year Whisky and 3. The Distillery Edition (Cask Strength) Whisky.

Julie was our host and her professional attitude and demeanor were a great mix as she socialized with us. She wasn’t overbearing and allowed us to jump in and discuss our thoughts regarding the whisky experience.

Additionally, my wife noticed something brush by her leg under the table and looked to identify a house cat or dog only to find absolutely nothing. However, we were told it might be the ghost of Cochran Cartwright, who worked at the distillery until his drowning at the distillery in 1899.

We made light of the situation and after tasting the three whiskies, we visited the gift shop. Much has changed within the gift shop since our last visit about 4 years ago. Although they are rebranding the logo, much of the less expensive souvenirs were gone leaving only the whiskies and a few sweaters (jumpers) and books or chocolates.

Additionally, we highly recommend adding a small area for coffee for those family members or friends that don’t drink or are the designated drivers for each visit. Julie was kind enough to serve my wife a cup of coffee and it made her experience much better as she is not a whisky drinker.

We love Glen Goyne and we consider it a top tier whisky and distillery. We highly recommend anyone to visit who is interested in Scottish Whisky.

Beautiful place, great surroundings, good scotch :) you will get exactly what you should get from whisky distillery. Only down was that there in no bar to taste more samples!

We visited this distillery at the end of our several-day tour of distilleries in the west of Scotland.

It is apparent that the distillery has recently undergone renovation and adaptation to the tours because both, the store, reception and tasting room were modern and clean. nicely decorated. The production hall was also renovated and visually prepared for tours. We were also in an interesting room that presented the difference in the effect of barrels on whisky in a very pictorial and imaginative way.
The tasting room was very cool. It was equipped with comfortable chairs, tables and TVs on which the guide displayed additional information. This is a definite plus.

Our tour guide was Vivien. She introduced a strangely stiff atmosphere. On the one hand she was very principled, stressed and commanding ("don't touch!", "you're looking too long", "you stand here, you next to him!") , and on the other hand she told over-the-top jokes and made embarrassing pseudo-comedy gesticulations like for kindergarten children. However, it cannot be denied that she conducted the tour correctly, informed about each process and was open to questions.

I found the ban on taking photos strange when the Distillery spent so much money to have the plant painted and adapted for tours. A very nice alembic base with a large logo would be a great place for a great photo.
Arguing that you can't use your phone because it might cause a fire is abstract and ridiculous. The risk is negligible. To eliminate such a risk completely we should also go through the process of removing electrical voltage from our clothes and shoes, or enter naked.

Overall, the distillery made a good impression on us and the whiskey was delicious.

Was there just to see the shop.
It's kinda nice area, also for tourism. The Shop was nice but to be honest the prices were ok - Tourist-Prices. But somehow I missed something.. even when I can't say what.

Whiskey lovers gonna love it. I took the chocolate whiskey tour and our guide was explaining everything, he was joking us and the atmosphere was ideal. I think the tours are just a bit expensive for students, i payed 25 euros for less than an hour, and at the end of the tour I was taken to the souvenir shop (implying u should buy something). All in all it was a nice experience I would recommend for sure.

Amazing tour! We did the “wee tasting tour” which includes two drams of whiskey as well as the tour of the distillery itself. All very very good for the price of a ticket. Tour guides are wonderful, full of info and can answer any questions you may have???? would definitely recommend to those whiskey novices and enthusiasts

AMAZING experience. The guide uplifted the whole master of malt tour we did to another level. His enthusiasm and knowledge left us wanting more. Highly recommend and hoping to visit again and take the masterclass tour.
