As usual we were shopping for new outlets using our entertainer and bumped into Sushi Counter. Landed up there and were pleasantly surprised with the chic ambience and the cozy feel of the resturant. We ordered different varieties of sushi the best turned out to be the Unagi (eel) sushi but the tuna sushi was disliked by all of us. The California platter was OK as well. the miso soup fine as well. The best part was the friendly service. Tip: Remember attaching good service starts with you.

The service is just wonderful. Efficient, fast, warm and friendly but also courteous, even when the restaurant is packed full of large tables filled with customers and people come for take away. Really impressive in the organization and calm effort put in by the staff on the floor and in the kitchen. The poke is just refreshing and healthy. Sauces delicious, fish fresh, rice perfectly cooked. The option of designing your own poke allows so much experimentation. I’m a happy customer and often go back, but when I can’t I’ve been impressed by the fast and excellent delivery service as well.

Frankly, I am shocked at the quality of the food. Ingredients aren’t fresh. Once those ingredients are put together, they’re not prepared in the nicest way. I’m sorry if that doesn’t sound detailed enough, but that’s because I am not a food expert with highly sophisticated taste buds. My tastebuds however have common layman senses and they didn’t like what they encountered.

The only restaurant I found in the NYUAB campus that was open after 9pm (it closes at 10pm). Not the best sushi I ever had but not bad either. The warm rice bowl with chicken could be better though. Service was fast but I was the only client there so it might not be like that at busier times.
