This site ought to be a remarkable place to visit, it however looks abandoned. Don’t attempt to visit when it rains because your shoes will get so messy and it poses a danger also because the footpath is slippery. The council should think about making a solid footpath either with stones or interlocking. Other than the access to the site, it’s a great place to be as you would have a lovely view of the city as well. It is also pertinent to mention that Amazon Darlington is just a few minutes walk from the site.

What a great car park! It has lots of generously sized parking bays, and you can choose whichever one you want, because nobody ever seems to go there. Choose between the views of the bushes, or stare vacantly at a warehouse wall.

Brick Train, Darlington by David Mach.
A brick sculpture, 23 feet high and 130 feet long, consisting of 185,000 bricks looks quite impressive.
You need to park up in the layby off the A66 to view or the available car park behind Morrisons supermarket at Morton Park.
Quite an impressive bit of art and links to the rail history, Stockton and Darlington, of this region.

We visited the red brick train when staying in Darlington. It’s quite something to see. A shame the car park is tucked away and hard to find.. thankfully google maps took us straight there. What a wasted treasure to be hidden away by industrial buildings. Crazy idea.

Interesting sculpture of a steam train formed from thousands of housebricks, set rather incongruously at the back of an industrial estate. Plenty of free parking and a short nature trail lead to the sculpture itself.
