In Argyll for a short break, revisiting the home area of my early years.

Visited Kilmun church to pay my respects to my father and grandmother who are buried in the graveyard and noted that tours are provided by the volunteers of Historic Kilmun.

As I recall, the Church and graveyard were overseen by Historic Scotland. What a change has been wrought since. There are more information boards around to guide all visitors and the tour itself was informative, allowed access to all areas such as the works of the water organ and the Douglas and Campbell Mausoleums.
Our tour guide, apologies for not being able to properly identify you, was a mine of information and passed on a great amount of information. We were glad that we partook of this valuable, local resource. Well done to all involved.

I was on a coach holiday in Scotland and this was part of our day out visits. We were met by a lovely lady, who was one of the part owners of this small church, which is now a museum that holds its history. She took us into the church and told us about its history, then into the tomb where the Campbell chiefs were buried.
The lady was very well informed about the history and answered all our questions with confidence and interesting stories.

We were biking the ardentinny loop and saw signs for historic Kilmun. Climbed the steps through an intriguing graveyard and found gravesnatcher deterrents!
The most lovely guide popped out and we had a wonderful tour of the graveyard, mausoleum and church
So much history here and such fantastic interesting snippets from a knowledgable guide.
14th century stone carvings, be headings, the grave of the first ever female doctor in the UK- all in Argyll!
It’s a community project - such high quality- so glad we stopped and will visit again

Fantastic place. The Kilmun church is beautiful, and has a very rare thing, a water powered pipe organ which might even be the last one in existance in tge country. The building is beautifully kept and the cemetery is so full of history. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely wee place with some great history. The stained glass is particularly stunning and the mechanical water organ is a true rarity.

Historical kilmun is absolutely beautiful both inside and out, the view as you can see is stunning and the historical significance and mausoleum just add to the beauty and interest of this place....I was lucky enough to live locally many years ago. Couldn't meet more welcoming and friendly people

Incredible history of religion in the area dating back centuries. The mausoleum is fantastic, especially if you are a Campbell, as so many Earls & Dukes rest in one place. The tower ruins, stained glass windows in the church & grave stones have so many stories to tell. The guides are entertaining as well as knowledgeable.
