Your average food spread venue that is in line with the price you pay for it
A good selection of salads pickled main dishes and sweets
Soft drinks packed juices and water are served along with the buffet (no sparkling water on offer-available at extra charge)
Visited this venue out of convenience as was in a close by hotel for the beach

Great place for a walk or a wee climb up Loudoun hill.
Steeped in history, myth and legend, it is now very much a favourite place to visit.
There is no real path up the hill, and it is very steep in places, but very worthwhile when you reach the top.
Great views of Arran on a clear day

This is a great wee hill (20 minutes to the top) with a big big history. The site of 2 battles against the auld enemy in 1297 and 1307, defended by William Wallace and Robert the Bruce respectively. At the foot of the hill stands The Spirit of Scotland sculpture and photography lovers will love the opportunity of taking a shot with Loudoun hill filling the background. My photo has been taken front the other side on this occasion as its a hill I take my dog up regularly and photograph frequently.

Loudoun Hill is a volcanic plug, it is 220 feet high from the base of the hill, the peak is 1,037 feet above sea level.
Get to it from the A71 east of Darvel near the head of the River Irvine, there is a car park for about 30 cars, access is easy and the climb up is not too difficult, you go down the way first passing the Spirit of Scotland sculpture and the benches and picnic tables then cross the footbridge over the River Irvine which at this place is a burn about a metre across.
You are below the South face which are vertical cliffs and steep scree.
This South face is used by Rock climbing enthusiasts.
Walkers can go left or right and climb up and around in a spiral to the top, there are a few well trodden paths, some are quite muddy, you pass the ruins of 2 old farmhouses on the way up.
This is working farmland, there are sheep around so please keep pet dogs on a lead.
The views from the top are spectacular, on a clear day you can see all the way down the Irvine Valley to the Ayrshire coast 40km away and further to the Isle of Arran.
There's a concrete trig point at the top and a marble plaque to commemorate the battle nearby in 1307 when King Robert the Bruce beat an English force led by Aymer de Valance.
The 2018 film "Outlaw King" was about this battle.

A reasonably regular walk for me. Not the longest walk in the world but fantastic views all the way down to the coast and Arran on a good day. The path round the bottom at the right can get really muddy so maybe some decent footwear should be considered. You come across a relatively steep way up first but if you continue round the bottom a bit further there is a less steep way up. Not for the frail or infirm and keep a hold of kids hands at the top....its a sharp drop. Worth a wander up if passing.

Great walk beautiful views was a bit muddy at places so coming down the hill was a bit slippy

In terms of sheer altitude, you're not actually getting up that high. You'll probably be able to see taller peaks from your view at the top! But what makes it spectacular is the way it just seems to jut straight out of the ground, giving that sheer drop on the east side. It doesn't take long to climb so you can pack light, and you can pretty much choose the difficulty yourself - carve yourself a challenging path up one of the steeper sections, or amble around to other side where the angle is much more slight. The views are lovely and there's probably no better place to watch the sun setting behind the Isle of Arran, if you're willing to make the descent in low light. So leave your serious hiking equipment at home, put on some decent shoes and pack a flask of tea - this is as short and sharp (but still satisfying) as hillwalking gets.
