Really interesting mixture of items ranging from roman to natural history, mostly covering the history of the Chester area. Learnt so much about the city. Bigger than I thought and can easily spend over an hour there. The building itself is also beautiful. Free entry too.

Old-fashioned museum in terms of many displays and some exhibits but it’s free. The Roman tombstone exhibit is fascinating, with clear explanations of the designs and carvings on the stones. I also enjoyed the house museum at the back, although the floor arrangement is confusing, as it’s not in chronological order. Spent about an hour.

When the teenager asks to go to the museum to have a look round as soon as she got off the train instead of the park. If that's what the teenager wants then not arguing with her as it kept her off her electronics whilst learning new things.

A very nice, original building in Chester. Made to a be a museum in the 1880's, the building itself is nearly as interesting as its contents.

The Grosvenor Museum has a wide range of interesting exhibits covering the Romans, Zoology, art history and more, with a lot focusing on Chester itself, even including a full house made up to be like different periods in time. They will often have on different exhibits about different topics, with the most recent as of my latest visit being about the history of the Chester Rows, an interesting topic. There are plenty of things for both kids and adults to enjoy, and even a place to sit and get tea and coffee. A great day out for the family to enjoy, though you may have to find other parking, since there are only two disabled bays at the front of the museum, though there are several places to park in walking distance.

A lovely little museum and I will return.
It has a small gallery, small natural history section and a roman history section. Compliments the town very well, the staff were lovely and the shop was lovely, not too expensive.

A rich history to see and really helpful and knowledgeable staff. If you are in Chester, this is a must visit location
