Good for working

This isn't a GP practice. No GP's work here that I am aware of as nobody in my family has ever seen one. I've seen a nurse a couple of times. If you are going to call for an appointment and it's 8:45 don't bother you will be actively refused one and you are unable to appeal to anyone's empathy because nobody manning the phones has any. You can't get a booking for an appointment on any day other than the one you call on and you have a 15 minute window to get one, if you are outside the window you will get the standard response which is to go to an urgent care centre. Hilariously you will get this response after someone has asked for all your symptoms knowing full well they aren't going to do anything about it anyway. Just helps to keep the phone queues as long as possible for maximum frustration. If you dare to sound even remotely frustrated you are likely to get called out or hung up on, however you will receive an ice like reception from the call handler who will cut you off mid sentence and not actually listen to what you are saying. If you ever manage to get an appointment and attend the surgery you will sit in an empty waiting room with nobody in it. There are at least 20+ consultation rooms and nobody waiting... ever. If you go to the surgery to attempt to get an appointment at the desk you'll be refused an appointment. As a family we have had referral letters sent to consultants without ever being assessed, we have been prescribed medication based on a description of symptoms without being assessed or advised what the medication is to treat, we have had blood tests and samples sent in and never heard anything back. For the very few appointments we have had (not with a GP) we have never had a follow up even when one is 100% required. I have a 15 month old child (who has been refused an appointment 3 times in 2023) and another one on the way and my pregnant partner has just been refused an appointment this morning and she's a medical Dr. and articulated her symptoms and concerns to the call handlers! This was at 9:10am.

I honestly do not understand how this GP functions. I have been calling three days straight every morning as it opens about my ongoing stomach problems, as well as the fact I passed a bowel movement that was pure liquid blood, with pain in my stomach. I have told them all of my life I have struggled with stomach pain and you will always get the “No appointments available on the day”, which makes no sense to me because literally a month ago I had an appointment that was booked in for a week later than when I have called.

When I asked how this is possible due to my previous appointment, I was told that they no longer do them but how can the process change in just once month? How does anyone actually get an appointment if you can call every say in the morning as the phone lines open and everyone gets told “No appointments”

The worst thing is I had phoned 111, been told to go to A&E, been refused by A&E because it’ll take way too long for me to wait and to phone my GP, for my GP to send me back to A&E. I phoned 111 again and they managed to book me in for a phone consultation for the clinician to tell me to just eat more fruits and vegetables and drink water, which I do anyway and it will not help because I have stomach pains still. Called back again after just to be told, to no ones surprise, no appointments are available. I am not getting the treatment I need and I find it absolutely disgusting how if someone else had something worse than me they’d be treated the exact same way. How am I supposed to live with constant stomach issues and feel like I’m going to be fine if my own GP refuses to see me?

Spending 2 weeks at Wellington medical practice as a student has been fantastic. All staff are very welcoming and organised. Patients we're all lovely and all appropriate referrals were made, urgent care provided. It has been a joy to work alongside all of the team and understand the various roles within the surgery.

Where to start... Once saw an actual GP and she was very good, attentive and a credit to her profession. Now the bad stuff.
Have had a least 4 chest infections within 5 month's, can you guess how many times I managed to see a GP for that? I'm sure you know the answer. Have had another infection since Saturday so rang today in the morning and was 23 in the queue, an hour and 10 mins later the phone was answered and promptly cut off.. Ok will try again at 14.30, 14.29 rang and was 13 in the queue.. 50 mins later was answered and explained that I've had 4 infections in 5 months, am short of breath when I move so surely you would think they would see me.. of course not, no appointment slots so I need to go to the urgent centre at the hospital. This seems to be their answer for everything, terrible practice, terrible staff, if they were an business they would have gone bankrupt years ago.

Absolutely appalling ….. complete lack of patient care. I have been registered with them for over 3 years and have yet to actually see a GP despite having had surgery and ongoing issues with my blood count, kidney function and other concerns. They regularly mess up my prescription requests ….. No confidence in them whatsoever

Really poor service, you can't get an appointment unless you call when they first open in the morning. Once you have been on hold for about an hour, you finally get through to the receptionist, where you are told if you can or cannot have an appointment. The last two times I have called for a NON-URGENT appointment I have been told to got to A&E, all this does is clog up A&E and makes waiting times unbearable for those who really need to be there. The last time I went to A&E, it took 7 hours for what the doctors could do in a few minutes. This is outrageous and a complete waste of A&E resources. Before Covid the Wellington Medical Pratice is where I would suggest someone should go, now I would suggest that you avoid the place, because the service is so poor. What has happened to our doctors and our practice?????

Becomes a joke when you can't even see a doctor anymore.... it's seems crazy to me that over the phone when speaking to reception that a decision is made to see if you're worthy of see one!

Needed to see the doctor this morning with a pretty painful back, explained I've had it over a week and tried the strongest over the counter painkillers I could buy and that it's only getting worse.... I was a bit shocked when they said someone from the pharmacy would give me a call back. I thought that was strange. So the pharmacy have called then told me there's not a lot they can do, didn't understand why it was referred to them in the first place and that he would refer it back to the doctors... I've then rang the doctors and was told I can't see a doctor as all appointments have been given out (this was at 10:20), if I wanted urgent care then to go to A&E..... the place honestly gets worse and worse.

You’d think they’d let everyone know they only take appointments by phone when they change their practice rules. Wasted a day of work to Queue outside to be told this. Try to ring and the line is too busy to even be in a queue too. Eventually get asked if I’d been to A&E. - No it’s not an accident or emergency I just want the doctor to check my problem. Joke.
