A trip to The Bothy for lunch. Lovely decor and a nice calm and relaxing atmosphere. The waitress whom welcomed us and seated us, was so friendly and welcoming. Service with a smile. Gave us time to get settled and look at the menu. We ordered our drinks first. A few wines to start our lunch off. We had starters, mains, desserts and drinks. My only feedback that is constructive, is about my starter. I had cauliflower bites which looked delicious when arrived at the table. But the caulidlower was cut into big bites and not cooked. It was not even al dente. It was raw and I had left it. Told the waitress about the issue and she said she would tell the chef. But nothing done to rectify the issue in this instant. Maybe cut the cauliflower into smaller pieces so when fried it cooks better. Will not be ordering that starter again. All the other dishes were great. I especially loved the pineapple and basil mojito! You must try it. Thanks for the dining experience.

Enjoyed a great family Sunday lunch at The Bothy recently.
There was live music when we arrived which added to the relaxed atmosphere.
Really enjoyed the Scallop & Asparagus risotto and the Chorizo and potato broth with Cod and asparagus was great, followed by a very indulgent chocolate tart with tangy orange sorbet.
Very reasonable prices and the serving staff were all great, recommending the dishes and the wines.

Grou[ of 6 of us stopped in on a very slow Sunday night. Our junior server was clearly new. Very friendly, but not very knowledgeable. Not her fault, and she did the best she could. Our main server also was the bartender. He definitely should have known better. Extremely slow, not knowledgeable about the food or the drinks, and messed up our order a couple of times. While the food was OK, the overall expereicne was not. Cannot recommend this place, at least when the primary staff is clearly not on duty. It’s a shame too, as this has the potential to be a great restaurant.

My daughter and I went to the Bothy for lunch on Saturday. They had a deal on so we decided on 2 courses for £20.
We both chose the soup which was spicy vegetable and the macaroni cheese with smoked haddock and leek. The soup was served with bread and butter and was very good. The main, not so good. It was served in a very large shallow bowl which hadn't been heated, so cooled down very quickly, almost cold by the time I had finished it. It was OK, the sauce was thin and quite tasteless to be honest. My daughter couldn't finish it, saying that it was sickly. It was served with French fries which looked and tasted like macdonalds fries!
We asked for the bill and was very surprised to see a 10% service charge. I mentioned this and was told that they could remove it which I agreed to.
We eat out quite a lot and this is the first time that I have come across this. I don't agree with it, it should be the customers decision how much to tip or whether or not to tip.
The service was good, although a little slow, nice staff.
The Bothy was my favourite restaurant before the outbreak of covid, but unfortunately, this experience has put me off and I won't return.

We had a lovely dinner with friends at the bothy last weekend. They had some excellent choices for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Some nice wine to accompany the meal and the service was excellent. Thanks
