My name is Dennis Xavier Solante and I just wanted to share my horrendous experience with Dr. Cars also known as Big Boss Garage.
Firstly, i just wanna say that trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair.
Had to admit, i was wrong for not choosing the right garage for my car. But i definitely learned a lot on this experience. Just like a tattoo. Good tattoo is not Cheap and a cheap tattoo is not good.
It’s sad to say that i selected Dr. Cars aka Big Boss garage as the owner was a very close friend of mine whom I thougth I could trust. i was also thinking that i could save a few bucks instead of going to a garage that handles german brands. Who would not? But i definitely regretted choosing Dr. Cars also known as Big Boss Garage to worked on my 2011 VW Gti/MK6.
After getting the car, I went straight to them and was advised that the vehicle will have to go through a Major Service. The car was very special to me hence, i was aware that the cost of service will not be cheap. i want to make sure that it is fully repaired to avoid any headaches. Unfortuantely, my 3 weekly visits (Back Jobs) did not resolve any of the major issues hence, I decided to move on to another garage with better experience.
Repair details:
- New Wiper Water Tank (it was not checked during the course of service (it was leaking, so i purchased a new tank - additional expense & excluded from the initial quotation)
- New Coolant Tank
- New Mountings (originally 3pcs) but they have replaced only 2 (for the engine) as the (3rd one) gear mounting was still in good condition. Unfortunately, both mountings were broken in two weeks therefore, i was forced to replaced 3 mountings (paid additionally)
- New Water Pump
- New Spark Plugs
- New Engine Belt
- New Heater Hose Pipe (Engine overheated once, coolant leaked in 3 different occasions (returned the car in 3 consecutive weeks) but the SP was not replaced nor was able to repair. They installed a substandard part taken from different vehicle hence it was faulty.
- New Gaskets and Oil Seal (serviced, gaskets replaced but still faulty and was leaking very bad. The other garage was able to fix the issue in one try.)
Exterior:
- New Front and Rear Stabilizers (not broken prior but loud noises came up upon collection of the car. Returned 3 times but they were unable to fix (was told to get a new set stabilizers which were additionally purchased)
- New Front and Rear Bushings - I was initially told that its ok to use even its was cracked but later on replaced as it was squeaking loudly (again, purchased additionally)
- 10k oil change
- Engine Flushing
- Oil Filter replacement
- AC Gas refill
- Coolant refill
- New Break Pads
- Break Disk Skimming
- Wheel Alignment
My initial quotation was AED 5,800+ but it was reduced to AED 4,500. Left a downpayment if AED 2,500 and was told that the following amount will be mentioned on the final receipt. I ended up spending almost 5000 and the only successful job was the 10k oil change but NEVER the major issues. The receipt given to me only shows AED 2,310.
Please learned from my experience. Always keep in mind that handing over your car for servicing in a garage is a great gesture of trust. Granted there's a considerable number of car garages out there that provide substandard services, it is important that you take your time before settling on a garage you are certain won't disappoint you by either doing a mediocre job or by making grand errors that lead to more costs.
With this being said, I will never recommend nor return to Big Boss Garage aka Dr. Cars ever again.
