A very neat little museum with a treasure trove of artifacts and information. We were lucky enough to be there in time for a very nice talk on local prehistoric finds! It was very informative and actually even more two year old sat and listened for most of it!! So from our 2 year old to our 60something year old, our family enjoyed our visit very much. Will definitely go back.

Brilliant place lovely little GEM ,exceptionally informative place ,very interesting, so much to see and things for all ages to do ,honestly go there you won't be disappointed, it is free and runs off donations but you can see in how the items are displayed the volunteers are passionate and care for there museum ,I like that ,huge display on the grounds its like WOW ,HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all people of all ages

Located opposite the Hastings Aquarium, the Shipwreck Museum has a collection of artifacts salvaged from ships in the area, along with displays about a number of well known wrecks such as the Dutch East India ship, the Amsterdam.

Entry is free through the gift ship, although donations are welcome. The museum is also dog friendly as long as the dogs are on leads. In addition, as the site is all on one level, it is accessible to wheel chairs and push chairs. The shop appeared if it can be a bit cramped though for wheelchair users.

Additionally, some of the exhibits have a sensory information for those with visual or hearing difficulties as well as video information.

Some of the exhibits are parts of wrecks discovered including river barges. There is also an interactive display in which ships can be tracked and identified in the seas surrounding the UK.

Parking is nearby in the museums own off road car park and there is also the Rock-a-Nore carpark as well. Although café on site, there is one opposite in the Hastings Aquarium and near by.

Occasionally there are talks given in the museum, and also on occasion trips to the wreck of the Amsterdam can be arranged.

If spending the day in Hastings, then there is plenty to see in the area with the Hastings Aquarium nearby, the Fisherman's Museum and the Hastings Contemporary art gallery. Also the are amusement arcades and the RNLI Lifeboat,

It tells you about history of hastings boats and what their uses are very interesting and its free entry but they have a donation box if you want too

Small museum with some original artefacts and history. Gift shop with reasonably priced goods. Friendly staff and free to enter

Great little free museum with quite a few interesting finds all dragged up from the bottom of the sea. Some fun interactive exhibits like learning knot tying, and some good activities for the kids such as brass rubbing.
With the voluntary £5 donation!

Little place but packed with historical artifacts, well presented and illuminated. Kind staff are happy to answer questions and give a guide.

A "small" museum with a surprisingly large amount of very interesting material/exhibits. Entry is free but you can make a donation, cash or card (as I did), to support the museum. It features stories relating to marine archaeology on shipwrecks in the area around Hastings and the English Channel. It is very well laid out/presented, with items on display with both written and audio/video descriptions, given it only has a modest amount of space. I very much enjoyed my visit.
