When you use the automated telephone system to speak with someone they answer quickly, and the operators were all pleasant, helpful and professional. However, we had pre-booked ( approx a week in advance) and pre-paid a return journey to a wedding venue not far from Chelmsford. The driver was 15 mins late to pick us up on the way to the wedding. On the way home, we waited at the venue at the agreed time and a driver did not show up to pick us up. When we rang they said that they had not registered that we had pre-paid and hence did not send a car. When they checked they could see we had pre-paid and sent a car to pick us up which arrived 45 minutes later than booked. Ultimately we got from a to b and back again but it was a pain and stressful and I wouldn't be using them again for anything important.

It was a Friday night. My mum and I had been looking forward the theatre all week. We booked ourselves a taxi with Fareway. We always use Fareway as they are reasonably priced and usually on time, if not early. The taxi was 5 minutes late…this was unusual for them. My mum checked her phone and she had received a message saying that the driver had arrived 10 minutes early, but there was no car to be seen…so she called the taxi office. Lo and behold, the driver arrived while we were on the phone. Stress over! We got into the car and to our surprise the driver was dressed head to toe in red! Including rubber gloves and watch! He also had an Afro wig on…he was Caucasian. You can imagine our shock. We asked him why he was wearing red rubber gloves and he said ‘because they’re comfortable’. At that point we both thought that we would never again see the light of day again. However we did get to the station on time and the moral of the story is, don’t judge a book by its cover. My only criticism would be perhaps for the driver to dress more appropriately next time to ensure passengers are not scared for their life ????

Fareway gave me perfect service in getting 6 people to Hylands House from Chelmsford Station and then getting them back to the station later. They were waiting as we got out of the station and when I phoned up to check on the return car, their system recognised who I was and told me that the driver was 1 minute away, which turned out to be true.

Used the new telephone booking system and didn’t get a booking confirmation. Called them after 30 minutes I was quoted only to find they had no booking on their system. They sent a cab which arrived 25 minutes later (55mins after original telephone booking).
Then the best part ! Four hours later at midnight I get. Notifications of a driver arriving at previous address followed by phone calls from driver asking where I am. Driver said it’s not working properly and causing all sorts of problems so why use it until it works ?

Was recommended this firm by The Warren Estates near Maldon. Used the app to pre-book trip to Travelodge Maldon (4.3 miles). App quoted about £20. I was on time as was the cab to be fair. Journey took 14 minutes.
I was charged £57.30!!!
I queried it and was told it’s not a local firm (Chelmsford).
1) Poor customer service - a warning would have been nice
2) The app is not fit for purpose when the final price is nearly 3 x the estimate
3) I’ll be letting The Warren know they ought to remove the Fareway from their recommendations.

I won’t be using either again.

We always use fareway taxis, they always have the best prices and are 100% reliable. They are always so helpful and easy to contact. We book all of our airport taxis through fareway taxis only as we know they will turn up on time, they also have minibuses and store our baby seat for our return journey which is a massive help. We only recently had our flight re routed to the East Midlands and we informed fareway taxi once we landed, they said it was no problem and to just call an hour before we get back to Stansted and they will be round the corner waiting - which they were! Made a horrendous journey so much easier for us. Cannot recommend fareway taxi enough!

I ordered taxi for Tuesday morning at 8 am. I had to go to train station and reach London on time for my exam. At 8:05 I got phone call from Farway office saying taxi will be late . She said it will be another 15 minutes or so. As a results taxi arrived at 8:25. At that point I asked my husband to drop me to the station even though he had to take our kids to school. I missed my train and failed my exam. Thank you Farway for reliable service! I will make sure I won’t ever use you!
