Ordered dress for wedding. Was promised a ten day turnover. Once purchased, turnover changed to 15 days but had to leave the country so false promises led to expectations that the store could not meet. Unusually, paid for entire dress upfront. Promised to create any design, but poor english, measuring and execution meant that the product did not match what was asked for. Shop assistants expected dress to be picked up at first fitting ????(NOT procedure for couture), and without further alterations, etc. Strangely the tailor acted as if we were unreasonable to ask for alterations at the 1st fitting, seemed to take it personally and said he would refund the item (to avoid the work) but we found this unexpected behaviour and reassured him that we would like for the alterations to be made as is expected for a tailor made item. He agreed to this and all alterations. On the day of pickup we did not receive a call from the store, so called and was informed that we should come late at night as it was not ready. We arrived several hours later and found that not all the agreed upon changes had been made. They had to tighten the shoulders because it was so poorly fitting and had to have to staff zip me in to the dress. Despite this, we felt we had little choice but to take the dress with us, as we were flying out of the country for a wedding that evening. However, when we arrived in the destination country we discovered further failures in the work at a bridal party fitting. That is, the tailor had performed only a fitting stitch on the bodice detail which had fallen apart in transit. These are short, loose stitches that a professional tailor would further secure on the final fitting - which he had not done. I sent a picture of these faults to the number I had been given to communicate on but recieved no reply.
As I could not return the dress, being overseas, I asked my husband to follow up, but was accused by the store of taking too long to inform them of faults by blaming us for msging the number they had given us! When my husband returned to the emirates, they falsely claimed that I had both worn and altered the dress myself (this is not true as I had to then desperately buy another dress only a day before my sister's wedding). It was also provably not true because a fitting stitch is recognizable in its short loose sewing form and differs from a professional final product stitch. Simply put - our tailor made unrealized promises to get us to buy a dress, expected us to have low standards of execution, did not make the changes as requested, and then made false claims against the customer to deny that faulty work. When we returned the unworn dress 3 weeks after purchase, upon arrived in the country, we were denied a refund. But after a difficult exchange was given a 500aed partial refund. This means we paid an expensive 500dirhams for a stressful runaround, promises that weren't met, a faulty dress we do not have (and never wore at its intended event) and a huge headache. While their dresses on the shop floor are very well made, I can not recommend their tailoring service for one of a kind items to English speaking customers due to the language barriers. But I DO RECOMMEND that you choose their own designs and leave several weeks to perfect the fit. For me, the product design was not as agreed and fell apart due to poor stitching and a poor fit. I was promised a dress in a time frame they could not deliver and design faults were hidden from us at pick up. Meaning I took a dress I would not have agreed to take as I would never knowingly take a dress that had not been properly secured and would fall apart upon natural, normal and expected movement!
CAN RECOMEND only under conditions listed above. Some good designs in store, great salesman, but whose promises were not met, with many reasons to refuse refunds for faulty items. Many sad tears from this customer - I felt that they knew I needed a dress for a wedding, promised the world, knew their work was haphazard, but that I wouldnt discover it until I was out of country.
