Egoistic, arrogant admissions staff. Principal seems super lovely though.

What a beautiful, well kept peice of history. Staff in the gift shop were friendly and helpful. Being able to walk up the brilliantly renovated stairs and walk along the walls and through the towers was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing walk around a wonderful place, or to anyone wanting to learn more about the local history. Even better, DOG FRIENDLY!

Excellent castle to visit, only a ruin but what's left is solid and well worth the admission fee if your not a NT member .
Great views from the castle. Plenty of parking in the road before you get to the castle.

This castle was absolutely unreal! The views were amazing, and how well the trust has preserved this awesome piece of history. They have placards placed around various areas of the castle explaining the history and what each part was used for.
Being able to climb the towers and see the views of cilgerran and surrounding nature is a sight worth going for alone! The gift shop is also a must go! The items available are all high quality and history related to Wales and the castle.

It's worth a visit if you're in cilgerran

Interesting in the context of the history of the British isles but don’t expect a major experience. No parking nearby: use the riverside car park (down a scarily narrow road) and walk up. There’s a steep route and lies steep one; it’ll take maybe ten minutes.

Really enjoyed a wander around the castle. A pleasant surprise that the dog was allowed everywhere, even up step spiral staircases and up to the amazing view points. The picnic interpretation tables were great. Well worth the visit.

A small fantastically persevered medieval castle hidden within the beautiful west Wales countryside. There is a small entrance fee, though there is a a little gift shop and toilets on site and a lovely location for a picnic on a lovely day.

Parking for the castle is at Cilgerran Lower Car Park, do not put the castle in your sat nav, it is a very narrow place, nice walk to the castle about 10/15 mins, there is not much left of the castle, Cilgerran Castle is a 13th-century ruined castle. The first castle on the site was thought to have been built by Gerald of Windsor around 1110–1115, and it changed hands several times over the following century between English and Welsh forces. In the hands of William Marshal, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, the construction of the stone castle began after 1223. After passing through successive families, it was left to ruin and eventually abandoned by 1400. The castle backs onto a cliff face, with the remaining ruins dating from the 13th century. It was most heavily fortified where it faces inland, and includes a pair of drum towers, rather than a central keep, which remain standing. It passed into the hands of the National Trust in 1938. It is open to the public on payment of an entry fee but times vary. great if you're a national trust member, but not worth it otherwise,

Interesting small castle. Well looked after by the National Trust. Small shop with gifts. Parking is tricky but the village wasn't too busy when we visited. Lovely setting.
