A gem of a find. We parked in Horncastle (free parking by the leisure centre) and headed south. Initially the trail follows the Horncastle Canal, then veers off along the old railway. It has the feel of a remarkably well cared for resource. Crushed stone surface, trees cut back, art installations, and best of all you can tell it was a railway. Bits of clues to look out for: original gate and fence posts, accommodation crossings, bridge, etc. Trail is for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. At one point there is a sculpture of a viking boat. This commemorates the Vikings who built the railway to get their Lurpak, Danish bacon and Lego to market.* (*This bit might not be true). If you're in the area this is definitely worth a stretch of your legs.
