What a fabulous place to visit. The lovely beaches are full of rock pools with crabs etc just doing their thing ???? I could sit & watch them for hours. A nice little cafe near the ferry terminal serves food & drinks but the highlight of any visit to Iona is of course the Abbey. It really is quite lovely. I'm not religious in any way but the atmosphere there is peaceful, even with lots of us grockles (tourists) about. Leave yourself lots of time to soak it up!

The Isle of Iona is a must stop on any West Coast vacation.

We hear how beautiful Skye is all the time and we'd definitely agree. However you can see 3 Islands in a single day (although we'd recommended you stay at least one night on Mull).

So the Isle of Iona was where Christianity arrived in Scotland in the late 6th Century. St Columba arrived here with 12 monks and shared his doctrines and religion.

The island is non car friendly so you leave vehicles at Finnophort just a few minutes sail across the water on the mainland of Mull.

It's very walkable. Full of ancient relics & archeological items as well as the Abbey of course.

The beaches to the north are pristine, golden sands give way to turquoise waters, while Dolphins & seals play.
