Our weekly visit to Durham is the highlight of our week. The place is kept beautifully by an amazing team of staff and volunteers.

Great walk down into the valley from the car park where this baroque country house greats you. Stunning courtyards, and interesting gardens with pools to sit and admire your surroundings. There are other routes back to the car park when you have finished the garden tour. We took the woodland walk looking down on St. Peter's Church, then over the hill along a tree lined path. Fantastic day out.

Lovely place to visit. There is a large car park, which has two price points depending on how long you wish to say. There is a long path to follow from the car park to the actual house, but for those with mobility issues, or find it difficult to walk back up the hill the site runs an electric bus service, from the car park to the house. The house is really nice, some of the rooms are only viewable from a barrier; while others you can fully walk around. The staff are very knowledgeable about the history and the contents of the house. There is even clothing to view and some to try on; including some wigs. The gardens are lovely, some of which were closed on the day I visited, but I didn't feel I missed out on anything. The church was nice; with the entrance hidden around the corner on the right-hand side. Well worth a visit.

Pretty good as car parks go. Worth noting it's a steep downhill walk to the house (and equally steep uphill walk back). There is a shuttle bus. If you enjoy walking and like views it's worth trying the longer alternative routes through the grounds.

Great day out following the paths around the park grounds. There are different routes to suit your requirements. Whichever route you choose there are great views and you can see for miles towards bristol and even wells radio mast. There are plenty of places to stop and picnic. If you want to wait and get to the house the cafe has plenty of tables inside and outside but you may have to queue for a short while. The house is open but there is a short wait to enter. The groundsare very well kept with some really nice views of the house from the walkways.
Unfortunately there are no park deer at the moment lets hope they bring them back soon. Always enjoyed watching them with the family.

Impressive stately house with beautiful gardens (not fully planted due to covid) with beautiful walks some short and long. There is also a tram for disabled or those who cannot walk far. Lovely place for picnics and children to run around.

Lovely National Trust spot this. Time it well to visit when there are lots of little deer. It will amaze you. Other than this the kids playground is good (bare in mind they have acres and acres for them to run around in also. The gardens are stunning. The work that has been and continues to be carried out on them is very impressive.
