I had a wonderful lunch here. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the risotto marinara, which was loaded with mussels, prawns and squid. My partner had the seabass, which was cooked to perfection and had a rich sauce. We shared a glass of prosecco, which complemented our dishes well. For dessert, we had the pineapple ice cream, which was light and refreshing. The restaurant has a cosy and rustic atmosphere, with a nice outdoor seating area with sea view. I would definitely recommend Il this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal in Southend-on-Sea.

Awful experience. Music so loud I had to ask the waiters to turn it down . On the first occasion they did, then turned it up again. As if that wasn't bad enough, the chef had music blaring from the kitchen at the same time (heavy rock/metal though hard to tell). The restaurant is the size of an average living room so both sets of music were competing with each other and I stuffed tissues in my ears as it was intolerable. A female diner came to the restaurant and asked for the music to be turned down and it was and then turned back up again. The food from previous reviews was described as being amazing. I thought it was below par and not hot enough. There weren't many people in the restaurant (unsurprisingly given the noise level) but service was slow and the waiters showed no interest in us as customers. They asked right at the end if things were ok and I said "No! not really" expecting that they may be interested in what was at fault. The waiter shrugged and disappeared. It took ages (10 minutes) for the bill to arrive and I raised my concerns again with another waiter who seemed disinterested.
The impression I had was that the proprietor had the evening off and had left his/her sons/ young male employees in charge who were enjoying dismissing customers and listening to music. Personally I think if they had left three toddlers in charge, they would have made a better job of it and would at least have smiled at customers. Thankyou for a thoroughly unpleasant evening Sunset Bar. We won't be returning!

It was our first visit last week. We will definitely be returning. The restaurant was nicely decorated and comfortable, staff all lovely and welcoming. We had starters and main which were both delicious. Really lovely little restaurant.

I ordered scallops from the special board but when served it was predominantly the roe and no scallops which was disappointing. Lobster Ravioli was very tasty and no complaints, had a cheese cake for sweet which wasn't set and again disappointing, I would go again but this time I would make clear my concerns

Lovely to celebrate our 35th wedding Anniversary here. The food was very enjoyable, & reasonably priced with a good selection for palate & pocket. The staff were friendly & helpful too, & there was a lovely sunset to go with the aptly named sunset bar!

We came to South end and stumbled upon this lovely, authentic and intimate restaurant that we were drawn to. We were delighted and had the most delicious two course meal. The waiters were

Food is good, the service is nice, and the vibe is superb. However, disappointedly, the waiter (a man in his 50s) made exceedingly inappropriate jokes of our friend (a woman in her 20s). That made us unsatisfied ????????
