It’s with sadness that I write this review. My family have been with this practice for 35 years and we have always been happy with the service. Unfortunately in February my husband became seriously ill but could not see a GP instead he was sent to Woking Community Hospital where he was later referred to A&E. The same week I was ill with a sinus infection but could not even talk to a Dr to request a prescription. This was a stressful period for our family with no support from our local GP practice.
My husband has been in hospital for 2 months with endocarditis and an aortic valve replacement. He was recently discharged and a letter sent to the GP. We have heard nothing from the practice and attempts to again talk to a GP regarding continued medication etc has been a struggle. The receptionists have been less than helpful.
It appears that this practice has changed beyond all recognition from the friendly, family practice it was in the past. It is unacceptable that you can’t see a Doctor face to face for 3 weeks. A telephone appointment is fine (if you can get one) if you know what is wrong with you and can request what you need. But a face to face appointment is essential to get the whole picture especially in my husbands case which was life threatening.
I despair for the future if this is the standard of GP service we have to accept.

My son passed out at the Dentist in the same building and banged his head and his neck was bleeding. He is a registered patient. Dentist said to go downstairs and get him checked out as I was very panicked as was horrible to witness. Not one Dr would take a quick look at him and advise me what to do. Disgusting, not only as Drs but as caring human beings.

To your response,
You did not help me at all. It’s not the Receptionist’s fault.Let’s hope no one drops outside your doors as you won’t be able to see and help them. I would have had to wait 2 hours to see you and concern for my son was now and then. No wonder waiting times for A&E are so long and they so under pressure with the attitude of GPS.. You still have a duty of care to people, not legally but morally. My son is a child.. Thank you for being so caring and asking how my son is- NOT. I’m being sarcastic. Lovely caring practice I belong to!

I have to say that the team at Wey Family Practice are really great. I know many people complain on the waiting time they have to endure trying to get through in a morning but if its urgent you just have to WAIT your turn. I have waited up to 50 minutes because I HAD to talk to a doctor - once through the receptionists are always polite and cheerful and they listen to what you are saying. If they can help they will. Face to face they are also always helpful .. its a very hard job with a lot of people all desperate to be heard or seen so we need to give them some credit for staying calm and professional. many thanks

The nurses here are brilliant and always have been. Doctors vary, as do people's preferences for them. I have found the best one for me and he is excellent, but usually have to book two or three weeks in advance. I have been with this practice for 20 years and it is increasingly difficult to get quick appointments since Covid and more patients. I hope the practice will increase resources, especially in light of the planned development of West Byfleet and subsequent increase in population.

Managed to book an appointment, I then had to wait 6 weeks for it...I was then referred to the minor surgery clinic, waited another 6 weeks for that appointment. On the day of the appointment the building work next door held the traffic and I was 4 minutes late to sign in. When I signed in my name, plus another patients name came up on the screen for the same time and same Dr's appointment?? Due to being 4 minutes late the Dr refused to see me...??? I didn't realise it's a first come, first seen operation here? Haven't been able to get an appointment since, online appointment form is closed and I don't have an hr free at 08:30 every morning to hold on, hoping someone will answer and an appointment might be free?? NHS has become a joke and this practise (unbelievably) is even worse than Crouch Oak which I moved from..... Just keep going til you die it seems??

I missed a GP call last week as I’ve been having problems with phone signal. I rang the surgery back as soon as I can and was first on the queue. But how can you possibly be first on the queue and be left hanging on for nearly 25 minutes? I had to hang up eventually. I rang again today (15th feb), again I’m first on the queue. This time I’ve been left waiting for over 15 minutes before someone picked up the phone. Something drastically wrong here, either with phone line or the front desk system. Very frustrating especially when a GP left a voicemail asking to return their call. Is there a way to get in contact with the GP in these instances specifically? I don’t necessarily want to take an appointment from someone else in urgent need of it. But just an alternative way to contact a specific doctor, which could take less time. Even utilising a messaging system through the app or something. The practice manager should look into this as it could save time for all involved.

After all that waiting, I was told that the GP is not available for a phone appointment until March. (literally unbelievable)

I’ve recently moved to this practice after a continued bad experience with another local surgery. My son and I have both seen and spoken to doctors & staff at Wey Family and the service is amazing. The difference already with attention to detail, kindness & care is brilliant. I’m so glad we’ve moved, just wish we did it sooner!

One of the most frustrating experiences with NHS I have ever had. Rude, incompetent and extremely arrogant staff, it is clear they don't care about the patients. Had to basically beg to get the examination on the date that was requested by the doctor, had to fight to get the examination's request in the first place.....they lost my girlfriend's details in the middle of her treatment and she had to register all over again, no apologies, no explanation whatsoever. Average of 40 minutes to get them on the phone, over 2 weeks to book a 5 minutes' phone call. They treat us like they are doing us some kind of favor, but they forget we pay high taxes to have this service.....it is not for free. The nurse who took my partner's blood left her horrible bruises that last for over 3 weeks, over 25 days waiting a smear result that still hasn't arrived.....trust me, I could keep going, and all of that during only 2 months......NHS heroes....yeah, right!
