The Spa

To start, Fairmont is among one of the biggest and most well known names in the industry. Having purchased a membership here at Fairmont for its Health club Facilities, I had high expectations.

To start off with the facilities, I had access to the gym, sauna, steam room,spa,swimming pool and an unlimited supply of water bottles and apples ????????.

Jokes apart, I'd count each and every staff member as one those who are the best in doing their job. The staff impressed me the way they did their jobs. From welcoming people with their greetings everyday to maintaining constant hygiene in each and every facility, they did it all!

Dazzling technogym equipment to a substantially huge-in-size swimming pool,such is the quality of services offered at Fairmont for a relatively economical price!

Loccated in the heart of Sheikh Zayed road, Fairmont is also very accessible as it stands right beside Trade Centre Metro Station and has tons of busses and taxis around.

A big kudos to the staff members for their brilliant services. Specially getting me red apples daily was a very loving and doting gesture ❤️

Thankyou Fairmont and strongly recommending this place to all you people out there whether it's for a health club membership or a hotel stay.

There are a plethora of high-end hotel spas in Dubai. Needless to say this is the near definition of an embarrassment of riches. Every resort you see, every high-end hotel ; each one has some form of spa and treatment centre. So against this backdrop you have to ask yourself: why come here? This is the question I want to come back to.

The Fairmont as a brand name speaks for itself. It is always luxurious, usually modern (but not always) and certainly striving for beauty. The spa here takes a little bit of finding. Getting to the ninth floor is very easy; however, in finding the spa after that is a little bit of a rabbit warren. But nothing strenuous.

The staff are perfectly friendly, very organised and approachable. Very clear with a communication and gracious as they escort you through the various facilities and services available at the spa.

This is not the most opulent spa I have been to in Dubai. But the fight for opulence wins a hollow prize. Dubai is spoilt for choice and the trouble with being spoiled is that everything tends to purr to a monotone. You begin to sympathise with the Princess and the Pea — from the perspective of the princess.

The reception encourages you to come and stay in the spa after the massage or even before to enjoy the sauna, Jacuzzi and other facilities.

We opted for the couples 90 minute full body massage which in my opinion is usually a good benchmark for massages anywhere. One hour can sometimes feel a little rushed whereas 90 minutes just takes a little bit of extra time and is well worth it. My massage therapist, Alexis, was Keen to ask questions about any injuries, any area of focus or anything to stay away from. I usually hear this from massage therapist but seldom do they actually pay attention or remember. Lucky for me, Alexis has a good memory. The massage was a cross between your typical massage techniques no description and something like a mild yoga program. There was lots of stretching working on joints in addition to the usual and picking knots in muscles. I like a medium to firm massage and so this was perfect for me. Full disclosure: you get to choose what kind of firmness you want in the checking form.

All in all 720 dirhams for two people for 90 minutes in the Fairmont on SZ are felt like a good way to spend money in the middle of the week. That said, this is in no way an affordable every day massage (which in and of its self is a strange thing to say). There are many places in Dubai where you can get a couples massage or solo massage for considerably less than that, but I think you will struggle once you wrap in the concept of spa as that tends to drive a premium in Dubai. If you are looking for a simple transactional massage, you may want to look elsewhere especially if you are trying to do Dubai on a budget.

And so why would you come here?

The most obvious answer is: if you are staying in the hotel. Put simply, there is no point going anywhere else unless you are looking to compromise on price.

If you are a Dubai resident, The good news is you can get a discount through entertainer vouchers. This means just like us you can take advantage of the two for one discounts available. Without this, there is every chance that I would have never come here.

If you are someone who is on holiday and you are looking for that much fabled Dubai resort and spa opulence then you should pause before coming here. This is not on the beach, there is not A jungle of plants and running water sounds around you, it is not outside in the warm weather; this is a very nice spa inside of something between a corporate and luxury hotel. There are a vast number of options available at very similar price points so you may want to carefully consider the holistic experience you are seeking.

What do I come back? Not likely but that has more to do with the plethora of options available in Dubai and nothing to do with the quality and standard available here. If I was invited to come back with a friend or by my partner I would not hesitate at all.
