Fantastic food in a smart and comfortable restaurant with a sunny relaxing garden. Very friendly owners and staff. Will definitely be returning in the future

Had dinner here recently with my family and our dog. It was great. We loved it. Portion sizes were really generous, great value for money, great food and great service. They also catered really well for me - i have to eat a gluten-free diet. We highly recommend it and will definitely back when we are next in the area - we were staying in Hoburne nearby for a week's holiday.

We don't really go to the Nelson as its quite far from us, but we do occasionally pop in if we're in the area. When my partner saw the Thai night,she couldn't resist.
We were so impressed. Every course was just phenomenal.
I've just seen another review on here regarding the food. I'm not sure if they were eating at the same place we were because we loved every part. We've spent a lot of time in Thailand and the flavours were spot on for the Massaman and Pad Thai. Authentic, beautifully prepared food.
Service was brilliant given that there was a large birthday party in attendance.

This is our local pub we pop in fairly frequently, the roast is outstanding, best in the area by far.
Last Saturday we ate at a Thai inspired theme night, the food was delicious and portion sizes were super generous. Excellent value £25pp for 3 courses.
Pub managed a theme night, 50th party, regulars and a band -atmosphere was great and owner Joe and chef Fraser delivering their excellent food.
Bar staff also super friendly. Definitely give the Nelson a try it’s really a great local pub.

We've visited here in the past and had a wonderful experience. However, this visit was a bit disappointing. We had booked a table for 5 people for 6 pm. On arrival, it took us 10 minutes to find someone to show us to a table. We had been seated for at least 15 minutes before our drinks order was taken. Then, another 15 minutes until the drinks arrived. Our food was ordered and delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the beef burger, and I requested mine with no chilli jam. When it arrived, it had the chilli jam on it. I immediately summoned the waitress who took it away and bought a fresh one. Also, the slaw that came with the meal had an odd taste. Several other diners agreed and could not eat theirs.
In addition to this, they had a female singer performing there, who had a really good voice, but she was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. Her song choices were very good, and we would have enjoyed it if it hadn't been so loud.
I think that we would visit again, but I would choose a different meal and ensure that there will not be any singers performing.

We booked last minute to obtain Sunday lunch. We weren't disappointed. We arrived slightly early but that was no problem for the accommodating staff and we were quickly shown to a table. We had never been to the Nelson before and had to rely on what was on line.
I've had a very bad experience with belly pork recently but I thought I would 'give it go'. I'm glad I did! It was perfectly cooked, as were all the vegetables that came with it. Well done chef!!
Service was excellent and the atmosphere quite pleasant.
I would definitely recommend Sunday lunch although my wife said her chicken was slightly undercooked. Hence a 4 instead of a 5.

Fantastic place. Fabulous food with a varied menu... friendly and efficient staff ... and a really lovely atmosphere.
