The statue sits on the esplanade of Stirling Castle, to your left when facing the castle. There is a plaque on it as well as the regimental museum inside the castle.

A bronze statue of a Highland Soldier with rifle at the ready, on a large granite pedestal. Bronze plaques on each face of the pedestal. This is a memorial to Princess Louise's Argyll And Sutherland Highlanders, who fought in the South African War, (Boer War). It was designed by Hubert Paton, and unveiled on 12th January 1907, by the Duchess Of Montrose. Stirling Castle nearby, was the headquarters of this regiment, and has a museum dedicated to them. It is an impressive sculpture.

A detailed sculpture of a Scottish Highlander standing ready with a rifle during the Boer war , Stirling Castle was the HQ of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders who are depicted in the uniform and it was unveiled in 1907
