there's not alot left as the weather is washing away the sand stone from above. its a nice place just out of walesby forest complex .you have to be very carefull not to fall in to the water.not good for young children to be leaning over to have a look

Keep in mind, the cave proper is no longer accessible, though it is much more than just some hole in the ground. There is a sandstone outcropping which marks the entrance to what was once a vast network of caves beneath the area. Some caverns still exist under the area, but the most well-known entrances, as well as many tunnels under residential areas were collapsed (some naturally, some artificially) for both safety reasons as well as to cut down on some of the pesky rodent infestations that were related to some of the tunnels. Still an area of historical note, though!

Lovely peaceful place to walk. This was my childhood playground many, many years ago.

Nice walk away from any roads. Lots of dog walkers so look out for some mess. Also 2 motorcycle came past us on the path

Nice little bit of both history and character in the local area. The sandstone edge is a goodplace to have a picnic and although the cave is just a hole rather than a full on cave it's still something different. Worth checking out if in the area although not making a trip for. But no reason it shouldn't be 5 stars as it does what is says. Although bear in mind water level of the river affects how easy it is to get to the cave bit

Location would have been excellent for an outlaw nearby the old route to York and rich pickings .
And a possible meeting place for Little John and Robin Hood to fight .

no cave or robin hood but a nice spot to have a rest while cycling or walking. the river maun is beautiful and healthy judging by the three large trout making there way upstream.long live summer
