Free entry and staffed with knowledgeable and friendly volunteers. It was very interesting even to my husband, who initially wasn't keen on going.
The gift shop is always worth a visit. Amongst other things, they sell scraps of vintage Honiton lace, which is very affordable. I bought some for my daughter to have sewn into her bride's dress as her something old.

It is a free to visit museum, so obviously deserves some recognition. The volunteers we met were nice and friendly, they were helpful and let the children take part in a free hippo hunt, which is nice.
The displays are fairly typical for this type of place, a little bit of local history and some war items. A good way to kill an hour or so...

Received fascinating talk from volunteer staff member about history of lace making in East Devon. This museum has the best collection of Honiton lace in the world. Other interesting exhibits too. Well worth a visit and it's free.

For disabled people most of the museum is on one level with a short stair lift down the 3 or 4 steps to the lace exhibition and an on site wheelchair for use if necessary.

Thank you to the lovely lace making ladies who man this museum. As a fellow lace maker they gave me a wonderful reception, told me all the stories and convinced me to have a go at making Honiton lace.

Lovely museum. Free entry and very knowledgeable volunteers. Lots of exhibits about local history. Must see for lace admirerers. Follow them.on Insta!
